Publisher's summary
Jane Yellowrock is a shape-shifting skinwalker who’s always up for a fight - even if it means putting her life on the line....
The Master of Natchez, Mississippi has a nasty problem on his hands. Rogue vampires - those who follow the Naturaleza and believe that humans should be nothing more than prey to be hunted - are terrorizing his city. Luckily, he knows the perfect skinwalker to call in to take back the streets. But what he doesn’t tell Jane is that there’s something different about these vamps. Something that makes them harder to kill - even for a pro like Jane. Now, her simple job has turned into a fight to stay alive...and to protect the desperately ill child left in her care.

On the outside, Dina Demille is the epitome of normal. She runs a quaint Victorian Bed and Breakfast in a small Texas town, owns a Shih Tzu named Beast, and is a perfect neighbor, whose biggest problem should be what to serve her guests for breakfast. Meant to be a lodging for otherworldly visitors, the only permanent guest is a retired Galactic aristocrat who can’t leave the grounds because she’s responsible for the deaths of millions and someone might shoot her on sight.

Humans have always been fascinated by darkness. Especially the darkness of a city at night, when the black sky is made ever more inky by the pools of illumination dropped under streetlights. Whether the mean streets be in an alternate past charmed with dark magic or the dirty alleyways of futuristic crowded space stations, the city—and its darkened streets—will always fascinate us. Here then, an anthology of all new stories of science fiction and fantasy with a hardboiled noir twist that acknowledge that the city is a living, breathing entity...and it isn’t always on our side.

Great addition to the series
Blood Trade was a great addition to this series. I really enjoy serial books and this is one of my favorites. Faith Hunter continues to find new and humorous employment for Jane. I love the humor and often find myself laughing out loud.
Khristine Hvam as the narrator is awesome. She has the two things I look for in a narrator - the ability to differentiate the characters and the ability to express the action.
If you like a fun series - this is a good one.

Beast & Jane still going strong
Six books into the Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter and the writing is still just as fantastic. The heroine, Jane/Beast are still kick-ass. Faith Hunter has built an outstanding world and characters that I enjoy visiting over and over. And with Khristine Hvam’s narration, the series is a winning combination.
Jane and her new partners/family the Younger brothers cross state lines over to Mississippi to clean out some vampires. With Jane being depressed for the last couple of months the brothers can’t wait to get the old Jane back and a job is just what they all need.
Why has Jane been depressed? The events that happened in Death’s Rival left her and beast with some personal challenges and heartbreak over loosing a dear friend and finding one of themselves bound to the MoC of Louisiana. Not to mention the bastard that betrayed her. If all that wasn’t enough she pushed her boyfriend, Ricky Bo away. Jane is all messed up emotionally and Beast is not happy with her.
Let’s address the love triangle that has been forming. There’s George aka Bruiser, the primo of Leo the head blood sucker. I use to be team Bruiser until Death’s Rival. He and Jane had more passion between them and I felt like RIcky Bo was the safer choice that Jane took because she couldn’t be with Bruiser because of his loyatly to Leo. But the more I see of Ricky Bo I’m now switched teams and I can’t see me EVER being team Bruiser again.
Blood Trade was not short of the action and blood that I’ve come to expect from the Jane Yellowrock series. Jane has a job to do and she gets it done but what’s different is that it’s not just her and Beast anymore. She as a team in the Younger brothers. They have really become Jane’s family. Which she really needs after loosing the family she had with her BFF Molly.
I was afraid with the additional of the older Younger brother, Eli that there was going to be another man wanting in Jane’s bed. But Faith Hunter made it clear in Blood Trade that Jane see’s Eli as a brother not a mate and Beast feels the same way. So yay. And with the way that Jane answers someone when they ask if she loves Bruiser I think it’s pretty clear that Jane may no longer be team Bruiser either. Doesn’t mean he can’t still make her heart skip a beat and if Beast had her way she would make Bruiser one of Jane’s mates.
I really enjoyed Blood Trade and how she got to see a softer side to Jane. I have hopes that Jane will work her way back to Molly and her family in the near future. The most important thing for Jane to have is friends and family to help her keep her humanity and not turn into just a killer that she fears will happen to her.
If you’re looking for a heroine with a unique bond with her beast within you really should check out Faith Hunter’s Jane Yellowrock series.

"Time to make the donuts" caliber
Very good as usual. However this story felt like a pushed out sequel versus others with a more abrupt ending than previous stories. Read it for sure but not author's previous quality. I'm curious if author or editor would agree. It was like "time to make the donuts"

I love Jane yellowrock but...
This is a great book except Jane is feeling all angry and betrayed by Bruiser for the forced feeding as if it happened in the last book rather than the book before last. She seemed to be over it last book but now it keeps coming up. It's annoying.

Surprisingly entertaining
I started out on this series because of the many great reviews but when I started listening to the first book I thought that I wouldnt like it because of the concept of a big cat type "being" inside a bounty hunter woman. Also the cat-voice threw me off a bit at first. I decided to stick with it and all of the sudden I am on the 6th book! It kind of snuck up on me and I became interested in the characters and the ongoing storyline and even liked the narration! Give this series a shot, it is very entertaining.

Love this series but...
I truly enjoy this series. Will continue to listen to it. Adore the cadence of the narration. Here’s my one r complaining with this book. The comments about the type of firearm “not being for hunting,” and the constitution not outlining the type of weapon showed “for militia” 😣 listen, the author, and thereby the character, really need to understand that the second amendment ISN’T. ABOUT. HUNTING. The allowance for the right to bear arms IS, in fact, about civilian based para military. To, ya know, be required to defend ourselves from tyrannical rule. So while it’s completely fine for the character to choose not to use a specific type of weapon, the statement is also very problematic and representational of Wild And significant misunderstanding of the intent of our conditional authors. And therefore the constitutional rights of US citizens. And super irritating

Good .. but
It was a good book, but intended to drag a little bit. And again Jane is blaming herself for everything and that is aggravating but overall, I still love the story and the characters I’ll just take this book as a hump in the road.

Fast action,great characters
What did you love best about Blood Trade?
The interplay by the characters. Even in serious moments the comments made me smile.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Blood Trade?
When Jane would say "I love you too" because in earlier books she couldn't express her feelings as much.
Which scene was your favorite?
When Rick was sitting in her room and declared that she was his and he would kill Bruiser if he got in the way. When he said he would find a way for them to be together.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Fast action with humor and love in a paranormal thriller.
Any additional comments?
This books is as good as the first one. The author has developed the characters very well and I can't wait for the next one.

Tighter. Better.
The good: A tighter story than the last couple of books. Expands on the great vampire lore started in "Blood Cross". Developing side character relationships.
The bad: Two distractions - The weird pronunciation of the name Hieronymus. And Hvam is still too heavy on Yellowrock's accent. Not able to end a word with a pronounced "g". Annoyin'...
Worth a credit? Yes. I'll read the next one.
