What's more, at no point in human history have we had access to so much information, with such relative ease, as we do in the 21st century. But because misinformation out there has increased as well, critical thinking is more important than ever. It involves choices about who gets to participate in any given society and the ways in which societies have resolved the tension between individual self-interest and the common good.

Story
Can literature change our real world society? At its foundation, utopian and dystopian fiction asks a few seemingly simple questions aimed at doing just that. Who are we as a society? Who do we want to be? Who are we afraid we might become? When these questions are framed in the speculative versions of Heaven and Hell on earth, you won't find easy answers, but you will find tremendously insightful and often entertaining perspectives.

Publisher's summary
We have all had experiences with people that prove that those with the highest IQs are not always the most successful. What could these very smart people be missing? Chances are it's emotional intelligence (EQ) - the ability to perceive, understand, and manage emotions in ourselves and others.
Sounds very powerful, doesn't it? Could we really manage our own emotions, as opposed to having our emotions run the show? Could we really effect change in the emotions of our coworkers or family members? The answer to all these questions is a resounding "yes".
Whether or not you understand your emotions and their resultant behaviors, they leave their impacts like footprints - for better or worse - all over the situations and people with whom you interact throughout your life, as well as affecting your cognition, decision-making, and physical body. And while some aspects of your EQ are inherited, the vast majority of EQ skills can be acquired at any age. In Boosting Your Emotional Intelligence, Dr. Jason Satterfield shares how to identify and regulate your own emotions, how to manage emotions in others, a step-by-step process for building your own interactive Skills Tracker to improve your personal EQ, and where to find numerous resources to improve your EQ as an ongoing, unlimited learning experience.
With the tools and skills you gather from this exciting course, you will be able to improve your emotional intelligence now and throughout your life - using your emotions as you want, to help you reach your own personal goals

Helpful for everyone
Many people focus on developing their intellectual strengths, especially readers who are avid Audible listeners. This course is very points out our need to delve more into our emotions, what are the triggers, how to process your emotions. I think this is a critical topic, well presented by someone very easy to listen to. As a practicing physician, this has helped me help other people inside and outside my practice, and has helped me as a person.
This is a contemporary lecture, recently produced. On the critical side, I would recommend not referring to another course. I bought the prior course, before this one, just listened to this one first. Overall, great subject, easy to listen to, and I promise you will not "feel" the same after this course.

Yes, lot of information which can be
I will not lie here to you! There is a lot of information in this book which can be overwhelming! If you want to listen to this book straight through prepare for two things to happen! The first is information overload or overwhelm! It can be really hard to keep things straight which is why I would say listen to one and take a break! The second thing is if you decide to listen to this book straight through or marathon the book as I call it be prepared to nap! Due to the sheer volume of information thrown at you or given to you it can cause you to zone out (AKA nap).
I read this book and received it then listened to it again because I’m going through training at work for management role. I found the information great and it was reenforced by the companies training program which uses Emotional Intelligence. I enjoy all the knowledge and have begun to apply it in my life. I’m going to work on this for a while because people keep wanting to shut it down. In reality they don’t want to hear what I have to say because they may have to change! I like it and have been using the roleplaying before leading people. It’s helped me to give up control!
I recommended this book to several people in the same class as me for leadership training at work. Please enjoy the book and knowledge!

very informative and gave great information but had extraneous clips from outdated movies to exemplify the showing of emotions. the movies were from the 30s/40s and so much has changed in that time period regarding social interaction in America. I feel like they could have used more relevant clips for examples.
