About this listen

Chandler Gray never imagined during her journey to earn a nursing degree, she would encounter a distraction, in the form of firefighter, Moses Lawson. With the chaos of supporting her mother after her father’s passing and completing her internship and practicum, Chandler had no time for a relationship. However, Moses’ persistence, charisma, and rugged good looks made her think again. Perhaps a summer fling with no strings attached was just what the doctor ordered.

Unfortunately, their situationship became much more than she bargained for. Now Chandler wants Moses to switch things up to be in a committed and monogamous relationship. His response causes Chandler to react in ways she may come to regret.

Years later, when their paths cross in very different circumstances, Chandler will have another decision to make.

Can she look beyond her own hurt to give of herself and heal another past their breaking point?

Unexpected exciting and lots of turns

Wow! I had to force myself to stop listening (listen with 1.2 or faster for natural pace). Chandler and Moses have such an exciting build up of their relationship ! I can’t write more because I don’t want to spoil it. I was also happy to have Monet and Reese (first book of Carlotta Ardell) make a reappearance. However, it’s not necessary to read the first book to get into the second. I love the passion in this book and I usually prefer sci-fi, fantasy, or horror. So, this was a pleasant surprise and I can’t wait for the next amazing book of Carlotta Ardell!

OVERALL GOOD STORY

Chandler Gray and Moses Lawson a complicated relationship. Chandler a Nurse and Moses a Firefighter. They met and started a non-commitment relationship until Chandler developed deeper feelings and wanted more out the relationship, but Moses refused because of instability to commit to a relationship. Fast forward a few years, Chandler is divorced with a little girl and Moses is in a motorcycle accident and needs a nurse and this is where they reconnect. Although Moses loves Chandler and want to develop a meaningful relationship, but there are concerns that they both need to work through.
I received the audio from the author and my honest opinion, the story and characters are well developed. I did not care for the narration, it seemed unimaginative for me, and I think I would have enjoyed the story more by reading it versus listening to the audio. I think this book is great for new readers or anyone getting into reading. It is wholesome with a meaningful romance showing love amid chaos, forgiving and how everything happens for a reason. I give this story 3 out of 5-star rating.

🖤🖤🖤

This was my first novel by Carlotta Ardell, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved that Chandler never compromised her career for others' expectations of her, and Moses actually matured during their time apart. I also loved the fact that these characters lead "everyday lives", so they're relatable, and they dealt with topics that are very relevant in the Black community. Since I read these books out of order, I'm looking forward to reading book one. I recommend this book if you're looking for a cute, wholesome romance

Third Time's a Charm

This was my first exposure to the work by Carlotta, and I must say it was an excellent listen. The narrators were very good, as well; although, the tempo was slow - it was fine when I kicked it up a notch. Initially, Moses and Chandler were on the same page as far as what would transpire in their relationship - basically no strings attached. However, feelings came into play; while evident in Chandler, Moses didn't want to admit it until Chandler made it clear with her ultimatum. Unfortunately, Moses had to experience tragedy to be ready for Chandler, but even then it wasn't time - after some significant life changes. The perfect timing wasn't so perfect. When Chandler thought it was the end between Moses and her, it wasn't and I was so glad at their reunion. We shouldn't have to settle, even if it seems like the right thing to do. Was happy to see that Moses faced his demons, opened up to heal considering what he went through. It will definitely contribute to a successful relationship.

Emotional Roller Coaster ❤️

When you choose not to deal with the past, it won’t hesitate to deal with you.

This one really had me in my feelings, in the best way. Chandler and Moses’ journey was a great depiction of the enduring nature of love. Their journey wasn’t perfect, but it was the exact path they needed to take to grow individually & together. ✨Highly recommended ✨

Good story

Loved the story, but the narrators were hard to tolerate. If you get past them I loved the story, a beautiful story.

loved the twists and turns

had this sitting for a week and started it in the middle of the work day. it was a lovely dramedy and the references to shondaland always make me smile. I do agree on having to listen at 1.10x because the narrator pace was too slow for the mood of the story. overall would relisten and enjoyed it!

Adjusted Speed, Better Output

I love the way the story played out. Initially I was hard on my review of the readers. Once I adjusted the speed of the sound output, it sounded way better, thankfully. This tale was the love story we've all hoped for. The happy ending was typical, but still made my heart sing with the hope that somebody, somewhere, will end up with the love they always wanted - that special someone.

Pretty Good!!

I will start this review by mentioning that I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Shawntay bodied the narration of Chandler. Leo gave us “big country” in spades! They were both great!

Now to this plot: Chandler is more fragile than even she realizes. While she’s a force professionally, emotionally, she was extremely vulnerable. I was extremely glad when she stopped being ridiculous.

Moses is a mess. He is emotionally scarred and scared. One thing about his story line that I didn’t really care for is the wrap up with his family. It was such a huge part of his issues, that the resolution seemed a bit rushed. I’m glad that he got the help that he desperately needed instead of using so many crutches.

I am trying my best not to spoil anything, but the book is definitely worth a listen. I was personally glad to encounter two new to me narrators in addition to a new to me author! Thank you for the privilege!
