I loved everything about this story!

This is the kind of story that I’ve been waiting for all of my conscious life! I say conscious life because we all know the many problems we face as a colonized people. We’ve been made aware of this all of our lives through narrative, experiences, losses, and pain. But, Ms. Jenkins’s foresight has demonstrated a very poignant way to address some of the problems. For this, I am deeply appreciative!

Kwanzaa, the only holiday celebrating African American life created by an African man born in America, is based on seven principles called the Nguzo Saba.

Ujima, Collective Work & responsibility

Must Read: The Story of Black Excellence

Loved the story from the beginning to the end. This is my third Beverly Jenkins #Audible book this Summer, First, "Indigo", then "Belle" and now Blessings. Run quickly and check them all out. These are the stories we should see on the big screen and should be picked up by the likes of #Oprah or #TylerPerry. Beautiful story

This was a very entertaining and inspiring well written and performed story! A real feel good story.

Amazing heartfelt book!!

I loved the entire story line..I laughed out loud more times than expected, gasped several times and even shed a few tears!

The characters had depth, capturing my imagination from the start.

This was a light hearted and well written read. I am looking forward to reading the next installment of the series.

Very entertaining

I really enjoyed the story and the narrator. I was giggling through out the book.

Very Good

I would like to believe that the casual queer-phobic joke would have been edited out if this book were published today, and some of the voice characterization choices of the narrator were more effective than others. But overall, this is a delightful series about reclaiming history and economics from racism, a small town's communal commitment to each other, and family love. Off to buy the next volume in the series.

Feel good

I liked it. It had humor, well written and just what I needed for this gloomy time of year.

This is the light enjoyable story that I needed to hear. If only there were real people like Ms Brown!

Very good inspirational listen, a sequel would be good to continue the story. Bernadine’s heart was in the right place.
