has some really good research but his focus is

only on Rome and not much on Christianity Caesar and Christ title is misleading because only five or 10% is about Christ the rest is Caesar. he rejects divine revelation but still interesting to hear his opinion of Christ and early church.

The Best Marriage Yet of Writer and Narrator

Would you consider the audio edition of Caesar and Christ to be better than the print version?

No, I like both. One helps with the visual memory system and the other the audio system. I like to listen to the audio while stretching or lying down. They are synergistic and complementary.

What did you like best about this story?

The synthesis provided by Will Durant and his assistants.

Which character – as performed by Grover Gardner – was your favorite?

Narrator

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Nothing in particular. I tingle all over just knowing that something like this book and the others in the set exist.

Any additional comments?

I think Grover Gardener is THE best narrator of Will Durant. Please Have G.G. read the rest of the volumes. Thanks !!!

Early Steps of European Civilization

The formation of Roman Empire and it's evolution are exposed in a clear and fluent narrative by Will Durant. His easy prose and irony provides the reader/listener a well informed testimony about ancient time. The book examines a pivotal moment of European and west civilization: the formation and early development of Roman Empire (II century BC to III century AD) and the advent and beginnings of Christianity (till it's adoption by Constantine).
The ideas and the main events of the period, besides some gossips and debates, are examined in a way that enables the reader to grasp the historical background of the period. The part of the book reserved to Christianity, though, could be more complete. This is a book worth reading (or listening). It enhances our knowing of European history.

Excellent addition to the series

This is very different from Gibbons work on the Roman empire, which is far superior in scope, detail, and volume. Still, this condensed, rich history of Rome and Christ is excellent, just as nearly every Durant book I have ever read is. I'm very excited to move forward in the series and to experience what's next. I have found these histories too fast to fully comprehend. Just as the book on Greece was, there's simply too many people, places, and things to get lost into. One can spend their lifetime studying the ancient civilizations and still only scratch the surface. This is a perfect overview so that you don't have to spend your whole life studying this, but you can get a taste of what life was like in this tumultuous and gargantuan civilization of the ancient world.
