Cartas a un joven poeta (Letters to a Young Poet) es una obra maestra literaria que recopila diez cartas escritas por el poeta austríaco Rainer Maria Rilke entre 1903 y 1908. Estas cartas fueron dirigidas a Franz Xaver Kappus, un joven cadete militar que aspiraba a convertirse en escritor.
Kappus decidió escribir a Rilke en busca de orientación sobre su vocación literaria. Rilke, que para entonces ya era un poeta consagrado, respondió con una serie de cartas en las que, lejos de proporcionar instrucciones técnicas, se enfocó en la introspección y el autoconocimiento.
"Si tu vida cotidiana te parece pobre no la acuses; acúsate a ti mismo, dite que no eres lo bastante poeta para llamar a sus riquezas."
