Good YA historical fiction

I loved the author's historical work and tried her fiction. This was a solid little romance with a Scooby Doo angle throughout. Other reviewers seem to prefer the older narrator but since that sample chapter sounded like it was recorded on a gramophone and this one is free with plus, I was very happy with this edition.

Subdued Sarcasm With a British Take on Egypt

This is the first story of our heroine who proves the equal of any man (think Ewowin's Lord of The Rings) "I am no man." The "mundane" world of Archeology meets Sherlock Holmes with a greater tension than Holmes and Watson could produce.

A fun period mystery.

This was a fun, family friendly mystery with all of the Victorian era adventure charm.

A great introduction to fascinating characters
I look forward to reading many more books as I want to stay a part of the lives of Peabody and Emerson!

Overall an enjoyable experience

I was happy with the story and the reading, but the failure to properly synchronize the chapter endings was quite annoying.

What made the experience of listening to Crocodile on the Sandbank the most enjoyable?

I read her books about 10 yrs ago on cassette I belonged to an audio book store. I loved the her writings they were always good. But they didn't have all her writings but I enjoyed the ones I could find;) So finally to find them again I am so excited. I"ll end up learning how to down load them to my phone, something knew to learn. lol

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ameilia Peabody is my fav, she reminds me of myself at times in that when there is problem I jump in and just deal with it no matter how difficult it may be. She gives me encouragement to keep on the right road, i'm a recovering cross addicted and listening to books for a while now and I get so much more out of what ever style of the books is.

Have you listened to any of Susan O'Malley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Don't recognize her name so I would have to say NO lol But now I know her name I will be able to look;)

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Come to Egypt adventure , mysteries, and love among the ancient tombs.

Wrong Narrator!

The story remains the same; here we meet the intrepid Peabody and begin our journey with her through fabled Egypt. However, for those of us in love with these books and audio versions, O'Malley is the WRONG narrator. There can be no other voice for these books than Rosenblatt, so I strongly urge you to find the -other- version of this one. It was not available for a long time due to some legal issues, but was recently added again. I just downloaded the real Amelia Peabody, and am looking forward to settling in for a nice, long listen. I'm sure Ms. O'Malley is a lovely person, but she is not the voice of this series.

Great Beginning

The story is fun, a good yarn, not too taxing. The narrator does a fine job of characterizing the novels personnel. Only a couple of mispronunciations that I noticed. Good recording quality. Ms. Peabody is a great character.

I love all of the series and enjoy hearing them all again. On to the next one.
