Publisher's summary
Anthony Spencer is egotistical, proud of being a self-made business success at the peak of his game, even though the cost of winning was painfully high. A cerebral hemorrhage leaves Tony comatose in a hospital ICU. He 'awakens' to find himself in a surreal world, a 'living' landscape that mirrors dimensions of his earthly life, from the beautiful to the corrupt. It is here that he has vivid interactions with others he assumes are projections of his own subconscious, but whose directions he follows nonetheless with the possibility that they might lead to authenticity and perhaps, redemption. The adventure draws Tony into deep relational entanglements where he is able to 'see' through the literal eyes and experiences of others, but is "blind" to the consequences of hiding his personal agenda and loss that emerge to war against the processes of healing and trust. Will this unexpected coalescing of events cause Tony to examine his life and realize he built a house of cards on the poisoned grounds of a broken heart? Will he also have the courage to make a critical choice that can undo a major injustice he set in motion before falling into a coma?

Story
Eve is a bold, unprecedented exploration of the creation narrative, true to the original texts and centuries of scholarship - yet with breathtaking discoveries that challenge traditional misconceptions about who we are and how we're made. As The Shack awakened listeners to a personal, nonreligious understanding of God, Eve will free us from faulty interpretations that have compromised human relationships since the Garden of Eden.

Story
Wendy doesn't mean to kill Dina, the energy therapy practitioner who recruited her to an allergy study. She's not even sure how it happened. How could something as silly as hand waving and hypnotism turn Wendy's skin from empathic to lethal? Better yet, how can she change it back? She has a brother to take care of; earning a little extra money was not supposed to ruin her life this way. Refusing to live forever in fear of physical contact, Wendy goes straight to the source: the company whose strange energy practices caused her dramatic transformation.

I was warned about Tristan Cole. "Stay away from him," people said. "He's cruel." "He's cold." "He's damaged." It's easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster. But I couldn't do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him, because it also lived inside of me.

When ballet dancer Clara Campbell arrives in New Orleans, lonely and homesick, she is immediately captivated by the story of Windisle Plantation and the tragic tale that is said to have transpired beyond its gate. Legend has it that it is abandoned by all living souls, but to Clara’s great surprise, it is not a ghost she hears through the stone wall surrounding the property, but a flesh and blood man: a scarred stranger with a pain deeper and darker than the churning waters of the Mississippi river that flows beside his self-imposed prison.

Writing in the tradition of Dennis Lehane and Greg Iles, Attica Locke, a powerful new voice in American fiction, delivers a brilliant debut thriller that readers will not soon forget. Jay Porter is hardly the lawyer he set out to be. His most promising client is a low-rent call girl and he runs his fledgling law practice out of a dingy strip mall. But he's long since made peace with not living the American Dream and carefully tucked away his darkest sins: the guns, the FBI file, the trial that nearly destroyed him.

Gets me every time!
I don’t know how he does it, but he gets me every time, making me strive to do better and more, each and every time. I hear one of his books, I want to do more for God and the world around me, thank you William Paul Young for the renewed inspiration. I hope someday that I am able to express and relay the message and heal hearts like you have. Roger Mueller did a phenomenal job with inflection and his voice over characters with correct contexts. My imagination made perfect portraits of audio from Mueller and visual accounts from Young of the people in the story.

Hope for those lost in body or mind
Very good and sensitive book. It speaks to the heart of those who have regrets for past failures but want a new life in Christ. It also comforts those who have lost loved ones to physical, mental or other conditions. Knowing that perhaps they're still there somewhere and can have happiness, even if we cannot reach them, is a comfort.

Wonderful, Touching Story
I read The Shack before I became a Christian and it definitely influenced me to give my life to Jesus. I saw other reviewers say that this book is NOT The Shack. That's right, it's not. But it's just as well (if not better!) written and just as provocative. I love the personification of the Trinity. It makes me feel God more personally in my life. Performance was outstanding!

It has touched the very core of my soul
Where does Cross Roads rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
At the very top!
What did you like best about this story?
Meeting God
Have you listened to any of Roger Mueller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Roger Mueller brought every single character to life, changing his voice so effectively - I would completely forget narrator’s gender - I could hear sweet child voice or elderly women, or a vivacious rich voice of an African American Lady. Roger elevated the story to a completely new level, where his acting and the story became one - inseparable from each other.

Not Exactly Shack-Like
What made the experience of listening to Cross Roads the most enjoyable?
Good story. EXCELLENT Narrator! I love how the author makes the spiritual almost tangible.
Would you recommend Cross Roads to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes, I would recommend it. It's not The Shack, but it's a good story. By the end I was crying. But with The Shack I was crying at points throughout the book.
Have you listened to any of Roger Mueller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, I have not, but his performance in CrossRoads was awesome. I only read The Shack. Now I'm going back to The Shack and this time on Audible. I can't wait. I hope there's something comparable to the Oscars for people who do these book performances, because Mr. Mueller deserves one.
Who was the most memorable character of Cross Roads and why?
Tony. But it's because the way the narrator acted the part of the downs syndrome child. I can still here him saying, "Tony."
Any additional comments?
Young's books, at the right time, should be given to the people of Newtown, CT. Anyone who has experienced tragedy, and that's all of us at some time or other, should have the experience of reading/hearing The Shack and Crossroads.
