The title

best in the whole series! I didn't want it to end! From the beginning to the end.

Characters were great

I liked everything except that it ended so abruptly. A few more chapters could've brought much better closure!!!

Never give up!!

I love this series. I’m far from a history buff, but from things I’ve read and watched, there seems to be a lot of factual events in this series! I very much enjoy reading about the relationships between the characters. The only thing that makes it hard to read is knowing it’s true how cruel some people can be. I highly recommend reading this series!!

I love how this series ends.

I enjoyed all three books. They are well written, and the narrator is really good too. Besides the subject, the story kept me on edge waiting to find out what happens next.

CROSSROADS OF GRANITE — A STARK REMINDER OF WHAT THE HOLOCAUST VICTIMS ENDURED…

Wow — WHAT A BOOK! In so many ways this book really shocked me. I suppose it shouldn’t have. I have read other accounts of the persecution of the Jews by the Nazis, but this book was especially graphic and brought home how truly awful the concentration camps were.

What shocked me most was the level of cruelty police, guards and military personnel (both men and at times, women) could inflict on other human beings. They seemed to take PLEASURE in the suffering of others; found it “fun” to see if they could come up with new and innovating ways to make Jews suffer and their cold indifference to the pain they inflicted upon them. It was shocking how so many in authority in the camps could put a bullet in a person’s head without hesitation and then just walk away as if it was nothing. I found myself wondering throughout the book how these people who so easily tortured and killed could look at themselves in the mirror each morning and how they could sleep at night.

I also found myself wondering how one crazy, evil man could get so many others to believe that the Aryan race was the superior race and that all Jews should be wiped from the earth. HOW did he get so many others to buy into his sick views?

Although this book was extremely hard to listen to, listen I did! I finished this book in one afternoon, then immediately went back to Chapter One and started over again.

The author did an excellent job of painting a clear picture of what life inside a concentration camp was like (horrific).

This was the third and final book in this series. I found the first two books to be quite engaging as well (5-stars). Although this book COULD be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend you read the first two before this one. You’ll be introduced to the main characters, Christiaan, his brother Floris, Floris’ wife Nora and Lissa. By book three, I felt I knew these people (I’m happy to say Floris got what he deserved in the end).

I waited throughout the book to find out when all four character’s paths would accidentally cross.

As much suffering and pain there was in the book, there were also places of hope, friendship, joy and GOOD people who did not agree with the treatment of the Jews, and chose to help them as best they could, at great risk to themself if found out.

The narrator was excellent in making the good characters quite likable and the evil characters very dislikable. KUDOS!
