When two Stanford graduate students set out to create a new kind of cigarette that wouldn’t kill them, they didn’t foresee all the obstacles that lay ahead — or the powerful forces their invention would unleash. Nearly 10 years after the launch of the JUUL, Backfired: The Vaping Wars asks: Could e-cigarettes have been the solution to one of the world’s most pressing public health problems—or was this technology doomed to introduce a whole new generation to nicotine, and end up perpetuating an intractable addiction?

Home remedies? Not so much...
Would you consider the audio edition of DIY Home Remedies to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version.
Would you be willing to try another book from DIY Made Easy? Why or why not?
Possibly. The book and the content was informative, but the title is misleading. It would have been better to title this book: DIY First Aid at Home or DIY How to Handle Home Emergencies. It was only in the last chapter of the book that there were any of what I would consider home remedies. Most of the content was first aid tips that I learned in sixth grade health class. I would be more careful about what I was choosing if I decided to read another by this author.
The narrator did a great job with the material. I would imagine this type of book is difficult to narrate as there is not the inherent ability to change the tempo with action or dramatic moments. I thought the pacing was right where it needed to be: it was fast enough to keep you interested, but still allowed enough time for the material to be 'digested'. Since this is more like a textbook, speaking too quickly would have made it hard to absorb. The narrator rode that line with ease.
What does Kurt Feldner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I tend to be an auditory learner, so the narration by Kurt enabled me to listen and absorb more of the text than I would have if I had read it on my own. I most likely would have skipped or skimmed through chapters in the print book, but I listened to the entire thing this way.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not really that kind of book :)

No Place Like Home
If you could sum up DIY Home Remedies in three words, what would they be?
Informative Simple Encouraging
What did you like best about this story?
As it's not a story, I'd say that it is simply full of information made simple to understand. It is information that we likely will need but also hope to never need. Good narration :)
Which character – as performed by Kurt Feldner – was your favorite?
Home Remedy guy :)
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Short and Informative
Would you listen to DIY Home Remedies again? Why?
Possibly. It's a good resource for handling everyday things that come up.
What did you like best about this story?
The "story" was very informative. I don't think I would sit down and read this book, but listening to it in the car is best. The narrator did a great job turning a plain, informative book into something I could learn from.
Have you listened to any of Kurt Feldner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've listened to other books from Kurt Feldner, and the content of this book was much different the last I listened to. I've enjoyed listening to both, so I suppose that attributes to the versatility of Kurt Feldner's narration. As mentioned above, he did a great job turning a plain, informative book into something I could learn from.
What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?
I've learned there's pretty much a home remedy for almost every common ailment.

Informative!
Any additional comments?
I personally loved this audio book! Has a lot of informative information on things you can do yourself at home for ailments you may have and provides detailed solutions for each one. Of course, it is always wise to seek professional medical help, but at least this book gives the listener some ideas as to what you can try before your visit to your health care provider. The narrator’s voice is very soothing and he did not read so quickly that a person could not understand what was being said. You are able to think about what had been read to you. I would highly recommend this audio book.
