Acerca de esta escucha

Daily Lectio Divina reflection on the Gospel readings for the 2024.These inspirations use the ancient prayer of Lectio Divina that originated with the church fathers and was further explored and adopted by the Benedictines and many others. Lectio is a way of allowing the Holy Spirit to illuminate and teach by way of personalizing Scripture. It consists of progressive reading and praying with a Scripture passage. Each time the Scripture is read there is an increase in the prayer style to reflect on the thought of a word or phrase that resonated during prayer. I hope that by sharing these Lectio vignettes, you will consider exploring your relationship with God for a few minutes each day using the daily Gospels. Using prayers techniques such as Lectio Divina which include the profound contemplative prayer style that St. John of the Cross teaches can help us contribute to a realistic loving, and peace filled world.

Example of Lectio Divina on Matthew 25:14-30 - Generous use of Gifts
While we cherish and let God’s unique gifts fill our hearts with love, we need to recognize that these gifts are meant to grow the kingdom of God. If they are not intentionally and prayerfully used, they will wither away. You may have noticed in yourself or others that the joyful, humble, and generous use of gifts seems to result in increasing gifts as if an ever-expanding outward spiral. This is Jesus’s way of saying thank you for using what has been given.
