Editorial reviews

Jame Miller's introduction to Daoism is the perfect tool for anyone who is interested in learning about the history and practice of this far-reaching religious practice. Miller is insistent on the innovative and ever-changing nature of Daoism. The audio answers the question, "what does Daoism mean in the 21st Century?" Brockett's voice has a staccato quality that helps her emphasize the most salient characteristics of the subject matter. Perhaps as a result, the narration is engaging and the information is easy to absorb.

Critic reviews

“In this short volume, the author gives his readers not the last word on Daoism but invaluable handles to develop your own understanding of this rich and complex tradition.” ( China Review International)

Acceptable but very dry.

There is a kind of subtle arrogance in the author that rubs the wrong way. This is a general overview and history, but comes off dry and boring, a sort of academic work without heart but also without the depth one usually gets as a tradeoff. There is nothing wrong with this book, but it is not fun, and wasn't for me.
