Publisher's summary

After she double-crosses her lover, a ruthless crime lord, Drea must flee from a relentless assassin who ultimately succeeds in killing her. But after a very brief death, Drea returns to life a changed woman: no longer selfish and cruel, determined to bring down the ones who marked her for death. Joining forces with the FBI, little does she suspect that the man she will come to love is the same assassin who took her life.

All that I expected and more

This is Linda Howard's best book since Cry No More. It's a roller coaster action thriller from the the first word to the last. This is very much the heroine Drea's book . . . and she's a heartbreaker who had me pulling for her to overcome the daunting, yet self-imposed obstacles in the path to pulling herself out of a life empty of meaning. Hero Simon is a stone cold killer whom we know only in the moment -- no undercover Fed or good guy in disguise here. Howard delivers two seemingly unredeemable characters and grabs you by the throat with their story. There's pathos and humor, sin and redemption, and an unexpected kind of love story that takes off in a direction that I didn't see coming. It's a book that needs a second reading -- and that was no hardship for me. The first time through I was so caught up in the action that I missed the deeply layered nuances of Drea and Simon's finding love and redemption together. I simply loved this book!

Great book!

This book has it all: Unlikely heroine who has a supernatural experience and reforms, a super strong hero, baaad bad guys, reasonable and unpredictable plot and super steamy sex. I was totally entertained. If you like romances and suspense, this one's for you!

Sexy, thrilling and even heart wrenching at times

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Solid 5 stars - both the narrator (Joyce Bean) and author (Linda Howard) seriously need to take a bow on this project. Amazing from beginning to end, though I will admit you have to be open to possibilities while listening otherwise a significant plot twist could derail you.

What did you like best about this story?

Actually loving characters who are on the wrong side of the law, that blew my mind.

What about Joyce Bean’s performance did you like?

Perfect blend of anxiety, passion and angst.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely! Ended up forcing myself to go to bed and started listening again as soon as I got up.

Fabulous!!!!!!!

What did you love best about Death Angel?

Everything. It caught me right at the beginning!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Death Angel?

When Andrea died. I actually had tears rolling down my cheeks. I don't cry!! But this part I did. Don't won't to spoil the story but it was at the part when she went to the "place" and the indentity of the angel that gave her the second chance is revealed.

Have you listened to any of Joyce Bean’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First time and it was very good.

Any additional comments?

Only a couple of sexual scenes in this book, at the beginning and the end, but this book is fantastic. I loved it!!!! It is worth the credit. I like numerous books but I'm rarely enthused about a book but this one satisfied me.

"Storyline not credible"

Any additional comments?

Drea's attitude after the "event' that supposedly changed her outlook on life is still judgemental and her reasons for her change of attitude is still selfish. Every decision or move she chooses is geared toward just getting more points in her favor rather than a feeling of benevolence or empathy towards others. Even the fact that she wanted to get back at the crime lord, in which she decided to get him jailed because of his crimes and yet in retrospect if you think about it, was for reasons of revenge and not because she was fighting for her life or someone else's life. The crime boss didn't even know she was alive, or was actively trying to get the FBI to arrest him even though she had no clue as to his criminal activities or crimes that happened of which she could tell the authorities about, but because of her idea to get back at Rafael, this caused, Simon to make the hard decision he had to make in regards to Drea's actions. The author's thoughts in regards to this storyline, is very convoluted and not plausible. She could have written it better with a little more forethought and research, but I guess she just wanted to get a book out.

Loved it

Glued from the start. Loved it. Narration was great. It was a lot steamier than I expected, but it fit the story.

Great As Usual

Linda Howard is never a disappointment.

A combination of true romance and ugly reality. Both Ms Howard is a pro at writing. I never wanted to let the characters go.
