Laughed out Loud

A very funny book. Much different than 'Will save the galaxy for food', but i though it was just as funny. Overall it was solid humor draped on a decent stories and an interesting take on fantasy.

Harry potter meats The politically correct police

Too me this was the most entertaining listening experience I've had. Yahtzee's whit is sharp and to the point. he is a great story teller. great twist I did have it figured mostly out by the reveal. but it was gratifying when it happened. Not that it is mentioned much in the audio-book, but you might want to have listened to Mogworld first just to have the satisfaction of knowing what they are talking about when it is mentioned.

The book has a great story, characters, and twist. I think this is the author's best work. I hope he does a sequel.

A Strange and Unpredictable Book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Very recommended. It starts a bit slow but manages to step it up significantly as the plot progresses. It successfully uses existing archetypes, and enjoys throwing them on their heads and does so without needless fanfare.

What did you like best about this story?

At first it seems the reader is going to be treated for another trashy Harry Potter parody, but I assure you it is nothing of the sort. At several points I thought I knew how the story was going to progress, only to be pleasantly surprised upon reading further and further. My opinion changed at least 3 times of the book constantly improving each. Somehow I went from thinking "Bad Parody" to "a bit preachy against Social Justice Warrior's" to "An Amazing Read." It repeatedly uses your preconceptions against you to turn it into a funny parody, a smart social commentary, and ultimately a great book.

What about Yahtzee Croshaw’s performance did you like?

Having the author narrate is a huge plus as no context is lost in the delivery. The variation, and the ability to keep track of all the voices was spot on each and every time. I imagine having several female characters and one masculine voice to do them with is extremely difficult. Sometimes coming up with another voice seems a bit strained, but overall extremely professional.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The book, although not totally meant to be a social commentary, successfully produces a balanced and mature view of accepting those different from us.

Give it a listen, you will not regret it.

please make this a book series

The book had so many twists and turns it kept me guessing. I really hope there are more of these coming out!

This is Yahtzee's best novel yet! I very much hope there will be a sequel.

Yahtzee Croshaw is different, in a very good way.

I love Yahtzee Croshaw's novels. They are inventive, funny, and take you places you didn't know you wanted to go. I have listened to 4 now and give them all 5 stars. Reviewing the book is hard without giving away stuff you should find out in the course of reading. It will be more fun that way. If you are looking for great literature, this is not it. If you want to get away, this will take you to a place very different to any you have gone before. It is a very good book to escape to. Yahtzee Croshaw is also a very good narrator.

I rarely laugh out loud while reading/listening. I did with this book!😂 I hope there's a sequel.

No matter your political standing, this book will poke fun at you. If you have a sense of humor, listen to this book. It will have you laughing out loud when you least expect it.
