Publisher's summary

A peaceful organization of civilized planets is faced with a threat to their very existence. Desperate to save themselves, they turn for help to the most brutal, backward, violent species in the known galaxy: humans.

Growing up in the aftermath of an apocalyptic event known as "The Bad Week" hasn't been easy for Cross Agarwal. Decades ago, in a world before The Bad Week, he would have been graduating from college, starting a career, and living on his own. But in a post-apocalyptic time when mankind is in ruins and on the verge of self-destruction, Cross works in his father's subterranean cobra farm, tries to avoid getting involved in the turf war between his town and the Southern Basin, wondering if his future will ever be anything but bleak.

When a group of aliens appears by surprise and invites a select group of humans to join them, it could be Cross's chance to not only find his own place in the universe, but to also help prove that humanity is good for more than just violence.

Good intro to Cross

I have followed this author for years. This sci-fi entry to his catalog, is 100 times better than the fantasy he usually does. Loved it!

Very odd and cool story - listen to warnings and laugh

Very odd and cool story - listen to warnings and laugh at the rest. Interesting approach to humanity among the stars. I enjoyed it.

Zany enough to actually make sense!

Love the characters, plot twist and story. Keeps you on your toes. Little bit of language but not too bad.

Wes Anderson Writes Mad Max

This is one of my all time favorites. It’s such a clever take on the high concepts involved and reads like a Wes Anderson screenplay.

Yeah This Was Great

Rocks are the perfect weapon, stabbing is art, and gasoline makes your tongue numb. I'd rate this a perfect 5/7.

I Loved the Introduction to the Book

This is another book from the weird mind of Scott Meyer. This book is worth listening to, just for the introduction. The ending of the book was surprising. Luke Danield did an awesome job.

Brutally funny

Hilarious! It’s hard to beat the characters from Magic 2.0, but this is really fun. The finale was great but the enemy are kind and of a downer. The explorers are great though.
