Publisher's summary

Refusing to lose her brother to the violent Hermanos street gang, Benny turns to Dimitri, the dead sexy Russian who lives in the apartment above her family's bakery. He's the only man tough enough to get through to Johnny and save him from a life in prison - or worse.

There's nothing Dimitri won't do for Benny, even if it means dealing with her troublemaking brother. He quickly realizes that it's not just Johnny and his thug friends that pose a threat to Benny. A shady real estate developer needs to buy her bakery to secure a multi-million dollar deal and he'll stop at nothing to make her sell.

Threatened from all sides, Benny finds safety in Dimitri's strong arms - and in his bed. Her big, sexy Russian has no intention of ever letting her go - and he'll brave the fires of hell before he lets anyone harm her.

Listener's Note: Dimitri is an incredibly passionate man with a dominant streak - and Benny is only too happy to indulge his need for a little...restraint.

Loved the story!

Any additional comments?

After recently listening to Kelly's Corner and loving it I needed to go back and read / listen to the original series. DIMITRI is book two in the Her Russian Protector series. This is the type of series that (so far) you can read each book as a standalone. There are just a few reoccurring characters in each book.

This book was 99¢ on Amazon and I was able to buy the Audible for an additional $1.99. I love that!

I will be stick by my assessment of Pinky Powell from my review of Ivan. She tends to be a bit monotone at times and sometimes seems too rushed. Also when she has a group of females speaking, it's hard to determine one from the other just by her voice changes. Although DIMITRI was better than Ivan with this. Pinky doesn't seem to have this issue with men characters as much as women.

Despite my issues with the narration, I still LOVED this book! I loved the story between Dimitri and Benny. Oh my, the sex scenes, so hot!!! I book marked and will listen again and again.

DIMITRI is one of those books I will be definitely reading or listening to again and soon!!! I will be going on to book three next, YURI. I can't wait!!!...Sara

Hot Russian and curvy Spanish baker jump right in

How much to I LOVE that Rivera has not only provided hunky guys, but that they love curvy girls. I'm not a big gal but I appreciate the real woman experience. Dimitri loves every thing about Benny, enough to stay in his starter apartment above her bakery instead of building that large house he can afford.

This relationship starts off between two people who have known each other for a while, each pining after the other secretly until he finally makes his move. Benita's brother gets a cameo in the first book but becomes and absolute nuisance in this one and made me want to throttle him on multiple occasions.

I enjoyed this book except for one thing. ONE BIG THING.

I might rant a little. Scroll away if you don't want to hear it. :)

And I'm going to put in the spoiler tag even though it's obvious after the first chapter or two.

I adore Rivera's obvious promotion of safe sex. It's something that is mentioned throughout all of her books. She slips up here tho. After using condoms for their first foray into the hot steamy scenes you'll love, They wake up together and go at it, only after it's over realizing they forgot one important barrier.

It's the treatment of the aftermath I can't ignore. They even DISCUSS IT. Oops, we forgot the condom. Are you on the pill? No...

And that's it. I kept waiting for the whole, well that's how babies are made maybe we should do something... or not... what do you think? But nothing happened. They went about their days. So I thought, maybe we just wouldn't talk about it and she would do the whole day-after thing or he would think about what a future with her and a baby would be like. Again, they just had unprotected full blown sexy time and just... nothing.

So at the end, when she's throwing up... she's SO CONFUSED. And I was very irritated at this point. What could it be? Food poisoning? Hmm... what ever could be the problem???

Benita seems like an intelligent-ish girl. Dimitri has a few brain cells up there. I can't understand how this is a weird shock. You had unprotected sex, ignored it after, and aren't even the least bit suspicious she could be pregnant?

End rant. Yanked a star for it. Okay maybe two. Could have been a 5 star book.

Kudos to Pinky Powell for handling all these touch accents. She's one to watch.

Perfect narration once again!

Once again Pinky Powell makes this story! The story itself was much better than book one. And Pinky brought all the characters to life so well. I can't wait to listen to all books narrated by her. She's pure talent and made for this kind of work!

Very good addition to the series :D

4 stars

This was a very good story. I liked both Benny and Dimitri and was happy to see them get together. Their story was interesting and engaging.

Benny is the owner of a bakery that belonged to her family. She's lost all of her family except for her brother, Johnny, and she is determined to keep him. The only problem is that Johnny joined a gang and his behavior is going from bad to worse. The situation isn't helped by a greedy developer that's trying to strong arm them in to selling their bakery and Johnny is getting lured by the thought of easy money.

Dimitri is a Russian immigrant that came to America to find a new life, far away from the war that scarred him (both physically and emotionally). Dimitri runs a security business that provides trained bouncers for clubs and such. Dimitri does very well and has money but he lives in a small apartment above a bakery. He's been living there 6 years and normally would have moved out by now except that he's in love with the owner of the bakery, Benny.

Benny has been trying to keep the bakery running but when she inherited it from her grandmother it was far in debt and barely still open. She's been doing alright but it doesn't help that Johnny hasn't been helping around the place when he's supposed to be and precious money had to be spent on bail and lawyers for Johnny when his gang activities got him arrested. When the story begins, Benny is trying to get Johnny to help with the bakery but he's unwilling and basically being a jerk and disrespecting his sister. Dimitri comes upon this and gets on Johnny's case for disrespecting his sister and Johnny gets pissy and runs off. The problem comes when Benny realizes that Johnny's been stealing from the business and both her and Dimitri start to worry about just how bad Johnny is getting. Benny has loved Dimitri for years but never thought he'd see her as more than the friends they've been since he moved in so she's kept her silence. She's happy that Dimitri wants to help but doesn't want him to feel like she's asking too much. Dimitri realized about a year ago that he was in love with Benny and he'd do anything to help her.

Dimitri decides that the danger from Johnny's associations is too risky for Benny and he needs to protect her. Dimitri invites Benny up to his place for dinner so she can talk with him about the issues with the business and with Johnny. While they're talking, Benny imparts the fact that she hasn't dated in a couple years and Dimitri decides that has just changed. Things escalate between them and they have a hot night together. Dimitri quickly realizes that Benny isn't too sure of what he wants from her (which is forever) so he does his best to make her believe he wants her as much as she wants him. She's a little leery at first but Dimitri soon convinces her that she's it for him. Things go from 0 to 60 between them in about 2 seconds (metaphoricly speaking) as they fall in to the relationship that they'd both been wanting for a long time. This is helped along by the action plot because things are constantly hopping and Dimitri has to step up to take care of Benny. Benny mostly lets him do what he needs to do but she's not afraid to give him a piece of her mind when he goes and starts making decisions without her. I thought they worked well together once they finally took the leap. They manage to get past the issues with both the greedy developer and Johnny and end the story starting a very sweet HEA.

This was a very enjoyable story. I liked both Dimitri and Benny and had no major complaint about either of them. With the history between them, the relationship between Dimitri and Benny fell in to place relatively easily but the action plot was more than enough to keep things interesting. I'm sure I'll read more of this series in the future. I'd recommend this story.

Not a bad Listen (Read)

Great to listen to while you're folding the laundry or driving to work. Pinky has a nice range of voice characters thats not too cheesy. The story line is interesting enough that you want to know what happens next. Not bad Rivera, not bad.

Great Book, Better Listen

Where does Dimitri rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Dimitri by Roxie Rivera is one of my favorite books to listen to. I love how the narrator inflects the Russian accent into some of the characters. I have listened to the Russian Protector series several times

What about Pinky Powell’s performance did you like?

I think she did an awesome job capturing part of the Russian accents.
