There are some days when being the Garda Sergeant of a small Irish town really tests me. Having to police my family and friends is a necessary evil, but when I’m faced with arresting half the children in the town, and discovering someone close to me among the offenders, well, those days I really wish I’d chosen a different career.

Irate parents are not my only problem unfortunately, as I’m then called to manage a baying mob of strangers, bearing placards and demanding change. I’m all for peaceful protest, but these people were threatening the vulnerable, and I’m just not having that.

So, after a very long week, I just want to go home and put my feet up, when a dramatic, decades-old secret is revealed. It shocks everyone in the family to the core, and it feels like everywhere I turn, where once there was trust and honesty, now there are nothing but lies.

I usually know what to do for the best, but faced with this, I’m unsure. Should I trust my instincts and bend the rules, or should I apply the law to the letter?

She’s such a lovely well developed character. I’d love to have her as a friend and hope Jean keeps her stories coming !

Relatable!

Mags is so very real! I laughed and cried through all three books. I wish there were three more!

The character development is wonderful . I hate to finish the books in this series, and can’t wait for more. The narration is beautiful.

Irish Travelers, Ukranian Refugees, trouble with teens…

I loved, loved, loved this! It had so many quirky adventures for the small town Sergeant Mags Munroe. Set in modern day Ireland, with a bit of historical context, the novel was enjoyable from beginning to end. A guest appearance by a character (Connor), from the very first Jean Grainger novel that I listened to, was a special treat. I look forward to future novels about Ballycarrick and the family and friends of Mags Munroe.

Another great book by my favorite author

There was nothing I disliked about this book nothing at all. I love the character of Max Malone, who is so funny, and so down to earth. All of the characters in this book are so likable well, not exactly all of her immediate family and her best friend, I wish there could be a force book to this series. And if Jean Granger reads this or someone tells her this, I hope she’ll start writing!

Loved it

Mags is a great character as well as all the other. I love how JG incorporates a couple of storylines into her books. Parts are serious, funny and most heart warming. This series is grand.

Endearing and inspiring

I loved the characters, the life struggles, the humor all told without any obscenities which isn’t necessary for a good writer and a well written story.

A beautiful story

Once you have read one of her books you will be hooked I look so forward to reading her next book

Ordinary to Extraordinary

I truly loved the continuing story of Mags Munroe and he family and hosts of other characters. What starts out as typical lives turns into an extraordinary story. This was a delightful addition. I look forward to what comes next!

Such a wonderful next chapter for Mags and family

This book was such a great addition to the Mags Monroe series that I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait for the next in the series
