Publisher's summary

In 1993, Marie Gesto disappeared after walking out of a supermarket. Harry Bosch worked the case but couldn't crack it, and the 22-year-old was never found. Now, more than a decade later, with the Gesto file still on his desk, Bosch gets a call from the district attorney. A man accused of two heinous murders is willing to come clean about several others, including the killing of Marie Gesto.

Taking the confession of the man he has sought and hated for 13 years is bad enough. Discovering that he missed a clue back in 1993 that could have stopped nine other murders may just be the straw that breaks Harry Bosch.

Impressed? Ace detective Harry Bosch is also on the case in other exciting Michael Connelly crime-fiction novels.

Critic reviews

"Superior crime fiction, as suspenseful as it is psychologically acute." (Booklist)

"Smooth prose and plausible characters, even the secondary figures, elevate this several notches above the standard cop vs. serial-killer thriller." (Publishers Weekly)

Echo Park = Total Enjoyment

From first page to last, a highly gripping mystery of the highest order. Well written, well read, just a total pleasure.

Very Good

I really enjoyed this book. Lots of twists and turns and not a predictable ending.

It narrated by Titus Welliver, thank God

They took some of this book and incorporated it into the television series. That was okay but I wish that they had stayed true to the book. The story was engrossing and one Mr. Connelly's best. I love Bosch and I wait patiently for the next installment in his life. I am always afraid he's going to retire for good or Mr. Connelly will just stop writing stories about him. My other fear is that Titus Welliver will take over the character and the Bosch that we have all come to love and honor will disappear in the incompetence of this actor. Please get rid of him.

Harry is always great, but not a good narrator

Somehow Harry seems older and gruffer with Len Cariou narrating. It is hard to picture him as a relatively young man, given the characterization. However, the Bosch series never disappoint, and this fits the bill, as well.

Wonderful

One of my favorite Harry Bosch novels to date. I found this to be so entertaining, I was sorry when I was finished with it. I'm eager for the next Michael Connelly book!

Connelly at his best

If you have read Connelly and the Harry Bosch series, you'll not be disappointed by this book. If this is your first, well it shouldn't be for one thing, I recommend you go back and start at the beginning of the series. But this one stands on its own so new readers will enjoy this one as much as avid readers of the series. This was a good book with some twists and turns along the way. A less radical Bosch versus one more focused on getting the job done with some good detective work. There were moments of the “bad boy” coming out to play, but not so much that is took away from the story as in a few past books. One of those books I looked forward to on my commute. It even helped me get my garage cleaned out. Of course the narrator, Len Cariou, does an excellent job as usual. Worth the credit and must a listen for series fans.

Vintage Bosch

This had to be one of the best books (if not the best) of the series. Great twists and turns and continued development of the main characters along lines consistent with the earlier works. Bravo!

What could be better than Bosch being Bosch!

What could be better than Bosch being Bosch! Enjoyed the addition of characters introduced from previous books (Rachel Walling) and enjoyed as usual, the way Connelly weaves the story twists and turns, to its conclusion.

Better than the TV series

I highly recommend the entire series. Thus far each book has kept me in suspense and intrigue.

Great plot!

The plot is well crafted with a few twists. Good character development. Harry's relationship with an FBI agent is featured.
