"A radiant debut."—Emily Henry, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Book Lovers

THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

Named One of the Hottest Reads of Summer 2022 by Today ∙ Parade ∙ PopSugar ∙ USA Today ∙ SheReads ∙ BuzzFeed ∙ BookBub ∙ Bustle ∙ and more!

Six summers to fall in love. One moment to fall apart. A weekend to get it right.

They say you can never go home again, and for Persephone Fraser, ever since she made the biggest mistake of her life a decade ago, that has felt too true. Instead of glittering summers on the lakeshore of her childhood, she spends them in a stylish apartment in the city, going out with friends, and keeping everyone a safe distance from her heart.

Until she receives the call that sends her racing back to Barry’s Bay and into the orbit of Sam Florek—the man she never thought she’d have to live without.

For six summers, through hazy afternoons on the water and warm summer nights working in his family’s restaurant and curling up together with books—medical textbooks for him and work-in-progress horror short stories for her—Percy and Sam had been inseparable. Eventually that friendship turned into something breathtakingly more, before it fell spectacularly apart.

When Percy returns to the lake for Sam’s mother’s funeral, their connection is as undeniable as it had always been. But until Percy can confront the decisions she made and the years she’s spent punishing herself for them, they’ll never know whether their love might be bigger than the biggest mistakes of their past.

Told over the course of six years and one weekend, Every Summer After is a big, sweeping nostalgic story of love and the people and choices that mark us forever.

“A spectacular debut…Alternating between the past and present, the story flawlessly conveys the lovers’ growth both together and apart, and the summery setting provides an idyllic backdrop to their path back to each other. Centered on redemption and forgiveness, this sweeping, heartfelt romance proves impossible to put down.”
Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“In the mood for summertime nostalgia (cottage summers, young crushes, sandy nights)? Carley Fortune brings those lakeshore towns and emotional memories to life in Every Summer After about haunting past choices and second-chance love.”
Parade

“Perfect for fans of People We Meet on Vacation, Fortune’s debut novel is filled with nostalgia and heart. Percy and Sam’s history is compelling and nuanced, making the story fly by faster than the summer months themselves. Although just like the places we spend our summers, and the people we meet along the way, Percy and Sam just might stay in your heart far beyond the last page.”

I could not put this book down. Every time I had to, my gut clenched. I cannot get enough of Barry’s Bay, Percy, Sam, Charlie, and all the rest. This is a fully realized, beautiful story. The writing will take you away, and I have a feeling I will keep coming back to this one over and over again. Absolutely blown away. A stunning debut.

LOVED

I just really liked this book. It had enough depth to be interesting, but still an easy listen. Kept my attention, great narrator! Maybe my new favorite. Look forward to another book by this author, I like her A LOT!

Such a nice surprise!

I know many reviews begin this way—I’m not exactly being original—but I truly “never write reviews”. It’s been known to happen, but for the amount of books I read, I seldom take the time. I apologize to all the authors out there!

What I loved about this book, in particular, was that it was very well written—the words and thoughts flowed and I never caught myself critiquing the author or being annoyed by an overuse of cheesy vocabulary, which distracts from the story.

Basically, it was a good, heart warming romance that I could believe in. And—the narrator was simply amazing! I’m tempted to search for other titles she’s narrated.

Thanks for allowing me to not feel embarrassed for choosing yet another romance novel to pass some time while getting things done around the house—this book was NOT a waste of a credit.

A wonderful 9 hours of my life

Still a bit snifflely (not sure that’s a word) as I type this review that follows the last 5 hours of this story. I just couldn’t turn it off. The narrator did a beautiful job with each voice and the tension, tone and nuance was perfectly suited for said person at said time. A few others mentioned how great this read was and it convinced me. I hope my review does the same.

Just Amazing!

This is the first book I’ve ever listened to on Audible and I was hoping it was going to be a good one, and it definitely was. It was amazing! I loved the romance and parts of the book took me back to my own teenage years, and the lady that narrated the book just did a fabulous job! The only negative and it’s not even a big deal is that the going back-and-forth between the past and the present isn’t my favorite style, but it worked here.

Through her eyes

A coming of age story told by 30 year old Percy that recounts meeting Sam when they were just 13. Almost a YA book, I wouldn’t designate it as such due to described sexual tension and a couple sex scenes. I was unsure about Percy because she almost comes off as whiny and needy, almost. I’d have loved a few chapters from Sam’a point of view.
