About this listen

Fate of the Fallen is the start of a brand-new adventure from New York Times best-selling author Kel Kade.

Not all stories have happy endings.

Everyone loves Mathias. Naturally, when he discovers it’s his destiny to save the world, he dives in headfirst, pulling his best friend, Aaslo, along for the ride.

However, saving the world isn’t as easy, or exciting, as it sounds in the stories. The going gets rough, and folks start to believe their best chance for survival is to surrender to the forces of evil, which isn’t how the prophecy goes. At all. As the list of allies grows thin and the friends find themselves staring death in the face, they must decide how to become the heroes they were destined to be or, failing that, how to survive.

A bit odd but interesting enough

Big fan of Kel Kade and Nick Podehl, grabbed this as soon as it came out. The plot is odd and you spend almost all of the book having No Clue where the story is going, which can be off-putting.

The characters and their interactions are cute and funny, which carries most of the book. Throughout the story there are scenes that jump to other perspectives that feel rather boring or unnecessary, but they're not terribly long.

Overall rather enjoyed the book, even if the ending felt abrupt.

Fantastic - Kel Kade has done it again

I really enjoyed the complex journey of the main character and looking forward to the next book from this series and the dark reign series.

Great new series

Even though I would prefer a conclusion to KDT first, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to its sequel. Nick Podehl continues to be my favorite narrator and I often forget it’s even him sometimes! Thank you both for giving me great stories to listen to.

This book was truly very good.

This book was truly very good. Kel Kade, I am impressed. I think writing about the Gods and prophecies can difficult, but you nailed it.

I Really Enjoyed this Book!

I read a lot of sci-fi/fantasy. After a while, the stories all kinda blend and hit the same notes and tropes. Some also seem to slag on and take forever to progress the story. Thankfully, Fate of the Fallen did not follow suit. It was fast and kept going forward. It was very cinematic and entertaining. The main character was different than the classic "chosen" one. As such, the story developed in a different way than expected.

I also was grateful that it was a clean book, as in, no swearing or sex scenes or elements like that. Some things were implied, but never any kind of detail. It was very PG-13, and that just for some violence.

I will definitely be looking up the author's other books.

Last note, the main character has an ugly and stupid horse named Dolt. I enjoyed that, haha.

Kel Kade knocks it out of the park again

I've been a fan of Kk's work from the start and I was apprehensive of this new storyline but I am far from disappointed. I cant wait to see what new ADVENTURE awaits the MC and his Friends!!

“STOP” spend the credit. YES! KAFFAFUL free!

It’s that good. A good character driven true ol world fantasy save the world type stuff. Not all kaffafulled with politics (minus some gambling amongst some gods)..and petty squabbles about borders, or taxes, or the dead rai... is it i before e except after 🧐?

Anyways, you probably skipped all that.

It’s good. Good enough that I don’t want to give anything away. I’ll say this, a story like this is why I fell in love with the fantasy genre in the first place. EVEN though there aren’t any dwarves in the story..YET!

I see as of righting this review that book two of this lovely saga is approximately 50% complete leaving plenty of room to bring a nice dwarven comrade to join the group.

Even if a complete revision is order.

Your story is good too, it’s just dwarves are awesome! It would be cool to see them as an active race on the continent.

And I guess elves. If you have to.

Or just do Kender!

Is that even an option? Is it a Dragonlance specific race?

Or you could do Gnomes if Kender are a problem.

Dwarves and Gnomes for Book Two’ please.

This is now an instant Classic for my family library and a book I look forward to reading and exploring with my own daughters as time goes on.

Thank you.

great start to a new series!

I became obsessed with the author for his Kings dark tidings series and pre ordered this one in the excitement! I love the way he thinks and another great start to a new series. to top it off they have my favorite narrator too! it starts slow but worth the time. I'm just disappointed it ended so quick.
