About this listen

A thrilling prequel adventure based on the acclaimed TV series Star Trek: Picard!

Two years after the USS Voyager’s return from the Delta Quadrant, Seven of Nine finds herself rejected for a position in Starfleet and instead finds a new home with the interstellar rogue law enforcement corps known as the Fenris Rangers. great story & audio

Enjoyed the story, I love 7s character. it is easy to picture the characters. I enjoyScifi it was refreshing to see strong, interesting and not hyper sexualized female characters. The male characters were interesting & had positive interactions and relationships with the other characters. Enjoyed having lesbian characters without it being centered on coming out as a theme.

Another excellent David Mack Star Trek novel

David Mack delivers another top tier Star Trek novel with the story of Seven of Nine post-Voyager (and pre-Picard) with a supporting cast of characters including Vice Admiral Janeway (in the Star Trek Prodigy timeframe) and many new Fenris Ranger characters including a mentor and new love interest for Seven. One thing I love most about this book is that it explores identity from an LGBTQ+ perspective in the form of Seven’s finding her way without her former Voyager crew member and without Starfleet or the Federation. The action and plot are engrossing and the characters are well developed. Also it’s an enjoyable listen with January Lavoy’s wonderful voice.

Readers ability to channel 7 and Janeway!

Good fun. Maybe should have been branded a Voyager novel rather than a Picard novel, meh.

Excellent in every way!

The narrator does awesomely to convey all the individual characters. This is a wonderful, exciting, yet heartwarming story, I highly recommend this book. (I did the 'read and listen', reading as I listened to enhance my comprehension.)

January LaVoy is amazing!

Nice background story of how Seven meets the Fenris Rangers. David Mack really conveys the mixed emotions of Seven’s journey to herself after Voyager, but WOW there were many points where I had to rewind and re-listen to passages because January LaVoy -perfectly- nails Jeri Ryan’s sound, cadence, and vocal inflections as Seven. Brava! I look forward to more from her! xoxo

Definitely the New Classic Star Trek

This will be a fantastic read for anybody who is a longtime Trekkie (like myself), and especially for fans of Seven of Nine. David Mack is a master storyteller! He writes Janeway the way we remember her back when she was Captain on Voyager. And 7 of 9 is a heap of sharp human complexity and female emotion. The author very elegantly graces the LGBT topic without going overboard but in a way that is tasteful and adds greater depth to the mystique of this half-human half-cyborg personality. And LaVoy!!! She was the perfect choice for its narration.

The success of the story makes the revelation that our heroine (7 of 9) eventually becoming Star Fleet, bittersweet. This was hinted at in the last season of Picard; which I didn't mind then; but that was long before this book came out. Now, I wished she had remained in the ranks of the Fenris Rangers. Had this been the case, I could easily see this being a new Star Trek spinoff.

Just imagine: Star Trek - Fenris Rangers
