Publisher's summary

One woman learns the secrets of the five Jaeger brothers in the new romance from New York Times bestselling author Penelope Douglas.

On the other side of town, in the dark glades, under the rain…

Macon is the oldest. Thirty-one. Ex-Marine. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him smile.

Army is twenty-eight. A single dad with the most beautiful green eyes. He has no idea who he is, if not a Jaeger brother.

Iron will be in prison soon. You’d never think it to meet him. He’s a nice guy, actually. But he can’t stop reacting to everything.

Dallas is the one I hate. Twenty-one, cruel, and selfish. He takes and then throws away whatever’s left.

And Trace is mine. Or he was for about two seconds. No one can tame him for long.

Not that I ever wanted to. It was fun, but now I need to go home. Back to my side of the tracks. Away from the swamps and these men. To my parents’ big house. On my clean street. Where I’m never dirty or messy or hot. And I will. I’ll leave first thing tomorrow morning. I just want to crash on the couch tonight.

Their house is dark and quiet, everyone else is asleep. Except for one. He sees me crying and comes at me from behind. I let him wrap his arms around my body and hold me tightly. His breath is on my neck, his fingers are in my hair, and he doesn’t stop there.

I don’t think it was Trace.

I really enjoyed this book, my only hang up was that there was no RH, but that’s a me thing and I’m a pervert.

Really Five Brothers

Age Gap, reverse harem with five brothers!
This took me a little longer than usual but I think it was more about me than the actual story which once I just sat down and listened I couldn't turn away. The title definitely speaks for itself because Krisjen was with all but Dallas who we find out will be having his own book, so I am looking forward to that.
Macon is the brother I loved the most, as the oldest and the most tormented brother, he is the one that hides his real feelings towards Krisjen the most, Dallas is pretty clear that he doesn't like her, Army has his son to think about but also falls into a brief moment with her, Iron I loved also but their moment was just before going to prison and Trace is the one she starts with but they are really more friends.
Penelope Douglas as always delivers on a good story that is easy to get lost in, she always delivers on the right amount of spice with her characters.

Interesting characters

Fun sexy story, I liked the tryst family characters and didn’t really like krisjen but that’s fine bc she has moments of getting what I think she deserves

Great Story!

The in-depth detail of each character and their personalities! I feel like there is so much more story to write! As with all of her books, it takes a minute to figure out the different characters and what their part in the story is! I loved Krisjen! Macon was harder to love, but there was so much depth to him!

Love the story & spice

I have to say, the first chapter had me totally all in when I listened to it. I was allll for this book. However, I didn’t like that that the characters didn’t interact and have a dialogue- meaning that each character didn’t speak for their part in the chapters rather one voice actor for allll the parts. It threw me off if I’m being honest. The book was good (alittle bit prolonged if you ask me) but all in all I would give it about 4 stars.
Now the spicy level was 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Enjoyed!

Saw this book on a tik tok review. The book was amazing and ai had to keep listening to it. Staying up just to know what happened next. This is not what I was expecting it to be and I really enjoyed it! It's definitely a must read or listen too.

Fantastic Story. Stellar Narration. A Must Listen!

This is one messy family with questionable brothers who definitely ride that morally gray line. Although the title implies that it’s about five brothers, it’s not a why choose book, so if that’s what you’re looking for, this isn’t it. But it is such an addictive listen. The majority of the first half of the book is from Krisjen’s POV, and what a complex woman she is. From the “right” side of the tracks, but drawn to the “wrong” side, she just can’t help spending time with the Jaegers.

Get ready for motorbike rides, kisses in the rain, pool parties, a thrilling version of strip tag, bed-hopping, prison, kids, mental health rep, dark themes and spicy times, and so much more. Even though I was daunted by the almost sixteen-hour length of this puppy at the start, I shouldn’t have worried. I should have trusted that Penelope would deliver the goods. AND SHE BROUGHT IT!

And the narration was amazing. I haven’t listened to Abby much before, but you bet, I’ll be keeping an eye out for titles narrated by her moving forward. She smashed it. Vulnerable, sassy, emotional, and just flippin’ brilliant! Each of the guys delivered in their chapters too and a little bonus scene from Dallas at the end was a nice touch. The guys for sure elevated this story, but it was Abby who was the star of the show here.

I’m not gonna tell you anything more about it, just that you need it in your life. It is shooting straight into my highlights for 2024.
