Publisher's summary

From bestselling author, Rose Pressey, comes Forever Charmed, the first book in an all new series!

Halloween LaVeau is descended from a long line of witches. Yes, her name is Halloween. The cosmic universe is definitely playing some kind of sick joke on her. She's the ultimate witch cliche, complete with a black cat and spooky house. Thank heavens she's missing the warts and flying broom.

When Halloween inherits her great aunt's manor, she decides to put the house to good use as a bed and breakfast. Her first guest is the sinfully good-looking Nicolas Marcos, but he's not here for the continental breakfast. Halloween discovers a ratty old book in the attic. It's written in an unfamiliar language.

Halloween soon learns this is not an ordinary spellbook. The tome brings her a new talent, but her new skills come with a catch. When a rival witch comes after the book, Halloween doesn't know who to trust - the sexy vampire who says he wants to save the day, or the warlock who says he can destroy the book once and for all.

I enjoyed it.

I like the characters. I expected more in the confrontation of good vs evil. But, I'll be searching for the next book.

Haunted house

This book is cute. Cozy mystery about a girl named Halloween who inherits a huge house and turns it into a bed-and-breakfast. But it comes with its own set of surprises including cute guys, demons, and a crazy witch after her powers! Super fun read that ends in a definite there will be another book to the series ending.

Potential ... but

**maybe spoiler**

Inconsistencies or I was just confused about stuff. Like just because she did what she did by the river means she accepted the role? what did she actually really do by the river. what was the significance of the light being yellow rather than white. what was the only spell she knew that saved her. her aunt by the grave. didn't resolved the other ghost situation. why was she afraid of them to that extreme? no explanations as to why Nick was so chummy with the enemy and she can easily look past it especially after her violent reactions to see it. why was his eyes glossy what was the significance of telling us that. sigh

Lame reasons why the drama was there in the first place especially between the guys, her and each guy and her and both the guys together. I don't see why they couldn't have told her that. and each time she asked them stuff their responses were insulting making her look like a fool. why keep it from her to that extreme then so easily tell her right at the end.

Narration didn't help it. Changing the voices per person was good but fluctuations and feelings behind the phrases and sentences wasn't on point.

Her saying the guys name so much while she was talking to them or inner monolog when we already know who she's with and what she's doing was annoying.

Seems like there were many unanswered questions and if there were answers it didn't live up to the story or too vague.

Great Story.. ehhhh Narration

Rose Pressey is always a hit for me. Fun, witty, have a horrible time putting them down!! I was intrigued to say the least about how they would come out in audiobook.

I think it's a personal preference, but I could barely listen to Saskia Maarleveld, the heavy breathing did me in VERY quickly. I wanted to just go back and read it myself. Also from reading other books, I suppose I had a very distinct idea of what it should sound like, and I thought the narrator sounded WAY too old for the character!

Funny mystery

This book was so funny with all the sarcastic wit that I couldn't help but to laugh out loud. The twist at the end had me in awe. I loved it and would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Nobody's best

urban-fantasy, witches, humor
Read on September 27, 2016

If you like fluffy stories with witches, a vampire, and a warlock that has you rolling on floor laughing (or groaning), you'll love this book. Can't say much for the narrator, though.
