PLEASE MAKE MORE

Loved listening to this. The only criticism I have is that the text was slightly abridged. The signal phrases were cut from the dialogue and sometimes it was hard for me to tell who was saying what.

Great to meet Doc again

From my childhood, I have known that Doc was the impetus for the story of Superman. Here, we see just one of the many facets of Doc’s story, the Fortress of Solitude, taken whole-cloth & used in the story of Superman. Doc Savage’s superlative story shines in the well performed rendition presented here. Great audible book.

Fun read!

I love these American pulp magazine stories during the 1930s and 1940s with the competent, multitalented hero with a diverse group of talented characters as their team. Plus these types of heroes and stories are the inspiration for many books and movies including Indiana Jones, Buckaroo Banzai, and more recently graphic novels such as Alan Moore's "Tom Strong" series.

very nicely done!

Really enjoyed, thought main narration particularly good and of course all the doc savages are fun stories, though I wished they would have done Devil Ghengis as well!

Marvelous Job

Excellent narration of one of the seminal Doc tales written by Lester Dent. AUDIBLE should do many more of these.

Great fun

I do wish there were more recordings like this one and Land of Always Night. I was reminded of the great fun it was to read it back in the ‘70s. Good show!

Great Entertainment.

This was a very good story and the voice acting was superb as I have come to expect form these Doc Savage tales. Highly recommend.

An excellant Vintage Doc Savage Novel

What made the experience of listening to Fortress of Solitude the most enjoyable?

This was performed much like a radio play. With several cast members and sound effects, this added to the story enjoyment.

What did you like best about this story?

The choice of story. If there is a plan for dramatizing more of the Doc Savage novels, this was a good start. The introduction of the Fortress Of Solitude and the introduction of the villain, John Sunlight are legend in the pulp fandom.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

Probably Doc himself, less for performance than for character. Although all performances were very enjoyable.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

More Vintage Doc Savage novels please!

Fun again

I read these as a kid and loved them. finding them here, and with a cast instead of just one lone voice, is wonderful. it was a pleasure to listen to a story barely remembered. better still was the varity of voices. bravo! well done.
