Publisher's summary

Seven women, seven days. A lot can happen. There are three things that Amy Forrester loves most in the world: Jo, her wife of 15 years; spending time with her closest friends; and her cabin in the woods. What better way to spend the week between Christmas and New Year's than having all three!

When she invites her three best friends to join her and Jo in their mountain hideaway, all she expects is good food, fine wine, and lively conversation. Unfortunately for Amy, there are three things that she doesn't count on: her best friend's relationship is falling apart; her two other friends share a secret that causes nothing but conflict and discomfort; and the arrival of Jo's fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants niece Darby, who has a habit of leaving broken hearts in her wake.

Childhood friends, new lovers, and old rivals share beginnings, endings, and the uncommon bonds of friendship in a story filled with romance and possibility.

Breaking Darby's fingers

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. I can't tell you how many times that I started to smile like an idiot while listening.

What other book might you compare Fresh Tracks to and why?

Not sure.

What about Natalie Duke’s performance did you like?

I really enjoyed it. I think that you could tell who was talking just by the voice change and that isn't always the case with audio books.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

"I see you." Loved that moment.

Any additional comments?

I don't know that I have disliked a really sweet character as much as I did Darby. I hated that it, to me, crossed a line. That moment upset me during the rest of the book. I needed blood pressure medication at one point. LOL That is honestly why I didn't give it 5 stars. That moment just made me angry. Which a good writer sometimes has that effect. However, other than that, I really enjoyed it. Love all the relationships.

Dynamic

I very much enjoyed this ensemble story with its dynamic cast of characters, most with real issues and concerns to work out. I like how there were no easy solutions to the problems they faced and how even with the growth we see them make, there is still work to be done for each; no perfect, unrealistic wrap-ups here.

Speaking of realistic, kudos to Beers for exploring the topic of infidelity in a balanced way, with characters from each side of the equation, allowing us to see it from the different perspectives instead of portraying it in the simple terms of a villain and a victim as is often the case in fiction.

And, lastly, if steamy lady lovin' appeals to you...sweet golly goodness, this packs some heat.

New Year’s Holiday

I enjoyed all the characters. Each person invited to the cabin has weaknesses to overcome. Walls to break down. Self forgiveness. Wish there was a follow-up on what happened to each person after getting home from the cabin. The narrator is excellent. She conveyed great character emotions.

The Magic Acre

Jo and Amy are getting their cabin ready for their friends to arrive for their Christmas and New Year getaway. Seven women can create a lot of feelings and conflict. Lots of possibilities for new beginnings and endings. Erotic scenes. Marvelous performance. Recommend.

My kind of gathering

I really enjoyed the dynamics for these characters. The strength and fragility of these relationships rings true to life and I felt for every one of them. Some hard lessons were learned here, but are entirely worth it.
