Can our heroes match the power of The Bureaucrat?

Would you listen to From Out of Oblivion again? Why?

One time was enough.

What did you like best about this story?

It's a slightly different take on the evolution of the superhero's place in society.

Have you listened to any of Marc Allan Moore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely. Only about an hour long, listening from start to finish was easy.

Any additional comments?

I expected to hear signs of some sort of dystopian reality. I didn't hear any. But then maybe this series is ultimately a commentary that we already live in one?

The beginnings of a new Super Team

Would you listen to From Out of Oblivion again? Why?

Yes. I like origin stories of Super Heroes and I want to go back to see what I may have missed.

What does Marc Allan Moore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr. Moore is able to really breath life into these characters. Not only is he the narrator but he is also the author of the book so he knows the motivation of each of his characters. I found him to be a good narrator. His pacing is good and his emotions are right for the characters and the scenes.

Any additional comments?

From Out of Oblivion: World of Heroes Book 1 is the first in this series. At just over an hour long, this book gives you a taste of the story to come. Jack Quick is called to come out of retirement and join force with a former colleague to fight danger. While we aren't yet introduced to this danger, we are introduced to the fact that in the 25+ years since Jack was in business a lot has changed. Including the fact that the government is now involved in the Super Hero business.

I can't wait to listen to the next volume and see what happens next!

Calling all Heroes.....or not.

What made the experience of listening to From Out of Oblivion the most enjoyable?

The narrator, who is also the author was able to connect to the story in a way that sometimes a narrator can't do. Marc Allen Moore created a great performance by being invested 100% in the world he created.

What did you like best about this story?

Honestly, the door knocker. Yeah, there's a lot going on in this, but I kind of just kept envisioning Norm Macdonald each scene.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh at a few points.

Any additional comments?

Was a quick and fun listen, and I will probably come back for more! Kind of reminded me of Mur Lafferty's Playing for Keeps

SUPER FUN LISTEN!!!

If you could sum up From Out of Oblivion in three words, what would they be?

FUN INTERESTING ENTERTAINING!!!

What other book might you compare From Out of Oblivion to and why?

It kind of reminds me of the Ex series by Peter Cline!

Have you listened to any of Marc Allan Moore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I would...great narration!!!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

this would be a fun series for tv!

Any additional comments?

Good for the money.

This book is largely satirical. It's not great, but it's moderately interesting, and worth the cheap price. There are several other, similarly-priced novellas in the series that continue the story, and they aren't quite as good, but they're still cheap. Good superhero fiction is uncommon enough that even something of midling quality is sometimes worth listening to.

The author narrating was an up and down experience. I felt that I really got a good idea of how the characters were meant to be, but he really, really rushed things. Bad pausing, poor sense of timing, and really only two character voices. Plus it was hard to determine when the main character was speaking versus the narrator narrating.

I enjoyed this

This was a wild and I predicted ride. I didn't know what to expect but I did want to find out what would happen. I will definitely look for some more of these.
