About this listen

On the worst birthday of my life, I come home to find my boyfriend in bed with another woman. Within hours, I’m drunk, homeless, and pledging to stay single forever. And that is when the dangerously sexy Seelie King rolls through town, looking for fae like me.

Every generation, the king holds a competition for Seelie queen. But for reasons he won’t explain, Torin is looking for a charade, not a real marriage. So when I drunkenly sling insults his way, I have his attention.

When Torin offers me fifty million to participate, I think, “What have I got to lose?” The answer turns out to be “my life,” because my competition will literally kill for the crown.

And the more time I spend with the seductive king, the harder it becomes to remember it’s all supposed to be fake. Now, my life—and my heart—are on the line.

Performed by Taylor Coan, Alex Hill-Knight, Nazia Chaudhry, Stephanie Németh-Parker, John Kielty, Karen Novack, Jenna Sharpe, Yasmin Tuazon, Scott McCormick, Kay Eluvian, Nanette Savard, Zeke Alton, Nora Achrati, Khaya Fraites, K’Lai Rivera, Ken Jackson, Holly Adams and Eric Messner.

very disappointing

the plot isn't that good and wasnt developed thoroughly, very cliche and predictable (I literally knew what words the characters were going to say next...), the writing isn't that good.
the production of the dramatized version is... so-so, some of it is cringy (breathing, sniffing, moaning but not it the way that is appealing to say the least... and I listened to some amazing dramatized productions).

Give this book a try!

10/10!! I absolutely devoured this book and I can’t wait to dive into book 2 next! The plot was gripping! The characters were compelling! The full cast of narrators made this listening experience absolutely memorable!

Story was dual and cringingly bad

Overall, it was entertaining enough, but the story is not great and nothing is unpredictable.

The Irish accents are insulting

I am over halfway through, and I don’t know if I can finish this audiobook. The story is decent, and the concept is good, but as an Irish person, the faked Irish accents ruin the whole recording. There are so many Irish voice actors, including from the West of Ireland (where the stereotypical Irish accent comes from) who could have voiced those characters, but the fake lilt is jarring and ruins every scene they feature in. Not only does it not sound like an actual accent, it sounds like the voice we would put on for an old crone, not a princess.

Good story line….

Parts of this recorded version were a little rough to get through…. A little cringy especially the spicy scenes BUT if you can wrinkle your nose through it, I did really enjoy the story. I’m debating switching to book for to finish the series though.

Makes it better!

I will admit that I went back and forth on getting this one since I already purchased the original audio book... so glad I did! Having a full cast made it even better to listen to. I can't wait for the book 2 with the full cast!

The Batchelor on crack

Not really sure that's the right heading I would like to go with, but... anyway...

Loved it! A nice refreshing new world. I loved the chemistry between these two, the slow build-up and frustrating no relief for these two. I love the lead into the other book. only towards the end did it dawn on me about FMC. I would have loved to hear a little more about her friend, but it was enough to not have to wonder what happened to her. This, I think, was awesome. Most of the times the side character gets forgotten, but that was covered just enough. loved the dramatization, although there were sometimes were it was just too much. the love scenes were over the top in some areas. There is a fine line between desperate make-out and what a virgin mind thinks a make-out should sound like. I just kept thinking they were practicing how to kiss on the back of their hand at a preteen sleepover. With all that, it didn't take away from the fact that it was a good book. thank you all for the beautiful art you made.

Addictive

This dramatized story is fantastic. right off the bat it gets you! love the Fantasy story! if you like the battle of the age old story of hate turning to desire this is for you. What's great is there is action and tension always the twist! The audio Atmosphere is fantastic as well. There is always audio in the back making the movie in your mind fully immerse! I would recommend to anyone looking for a new Mortal instruments type story!

Wow!

I truly enjoyed this book. Actually I loved it. I would put it up there with some of my favorites. I had just finished the current books in the ACOTAR series. The 2nd I’m the series being my absolute favorite book of all time! I listened to all of them in graphic audio and truly enjoyed it. I had started to read and listen to multiple different books but was having a hard time getting fully into them and excited. I was worried nothing would be able to satisfy me for awhile after ACOTAR. So I even started to listen to another best selling series from the same author and also in graphic audio. It was just moving so slow to start with just like the 1st book in ACATAR. I really wasn’t excited about it taking 75% of the book till I was in love and excited. So I started to look at recommendations from Graphic audio. Frost came up and the overview grabbed me and the cover art spoke to me. So I gave it a shot, and man am I happy I did! Even if it wasn’t in graphic audio I still would of completely loved it just as much! It was fast paced but in a way that I still got a great story told with all the feels that I look for. With enemies to lovers trope being my favorite anyway made this just even better. The end omg! Let’s just say I am so happy the next book is already available lol. If I had to wait for the 2nd book to be made I would of went crazy! So yeah I love it and I recommend this book to anyone looking for a great story with great characters that moves fast paced in a great way. If you liked ACOTAR series this book is for you. If you liked ACOTAR but wished it was a faster pace this is for you.

Interesting fae storyline!

The heroine: Ava - she is Fae who lives in the mortal world. She was kicked out of Fairy when she was young, because she was given up for adoption and she has no memory of her family. In Fairy, if you don’t know your lineage, you don’t belong. It is her 26th birthday and she got off work early and found her boyfriend Andrew with another woman. So, she went to a local bar and met her friend Shaina to get her drunk on.

The Hero: King Torin - He is nearly 26 and it is time to get married. He needs a queen to restore the magic to Fairy. Though he and his sister are cursed. She is blind and he can’t ever fall in love. If he falls in love, he will freeze his love with a touch. He is determined to choose a bride based on a contest of a hundred fae women. Six or seven of them are fae princesses and the rest are common fae. The commoners would never win, but he lets them compete, so it looks good.

The Story: At the bar while Ava is drunk, King Torin stops in for a drink and Ava insults him and refuses to bow to her king. She says since the Fae kicked her out when she was young, she considers herself a human. Later that night, King Torin decides the best thing to do is to find a bride who hates him as much as he hates her, that will save him from his curse. Of course, no one fits that description more than Ava. Torin offers Ava a lot of money to join the tournament and become his queen.

I liked the story, but didn’t love it enough that I would really want to listen to the audiobook more than once. So, I am giving this story four stars overall rather than five. I liked the back story about Ava not knowing where she came from and searching for information on her real parents, also the competition was pretty good, especially with how dangerous it was with the fae princesses being so blood thirsty. I just didn’t get as involved in the story as I sometimes do with books that I really love. There was a cliffhanger and there is one more book in the series.

This audiobook was the dramatized adaptation with full cast narration and was narrated by Karen Novack, Nanette Savard, Nazia Chaudhry, Scott McCormick, Yasmin Tuazon, John Kielty, Kay Eluvian, Taylor Coan, Jenna Sharpe, Alex Hill-Knight, Stephanie Nemeth-Parker and more. I like the dramatized adaptation, with background noises and all that, though with this one there were times when the background noises did bother me at times, like the background music when they were at a bar and walking noises while they were talking. Though the narration was terrific.
