About this listen

Tucked away in a high-tech Tactical Operations Center, inside an isolated safehouse in the Horn of Africa, sits Agency analyst Zack Altringham. He is Kenyan-born, Princeton-educated, badly burnt-out - and condemned by his language and cultural skills to a lifetime of fighting America's shadow counter-terror wars. But when another mystery epidemic breaks out, terrifyingly quickly it reaches a tipping point and chaos descends - and Zack and his team (including two former Team Six SEALs) are trapped between the millstones of the sick and the dying on one side, and heavily armed militias on the other. Soon their "safe" house is in flames, and their only remaining option is to get in their up-armored SUV and try to escape the imploding gravity well of the city, to the safety of the American military base in Djibouti. But by then, will there be anywhere safe left on Earth to escape to?

Book 0.5 is okay to read after Books 1-3

Good, but too short. I'm looking forward to rest of series. It was okay to read this after Books 1 -3. Now I'm waiting for credits to listen to Book 4.

OK, but too much cookie-cutter military stuff.

I enjoyed the drones and the characters who were kinda lowly analysts, but the military characters were soooo predictable, as we're the major action scenes.

So far ok

Best zombie book ever? No. Interesting enough to keep you passively listening . Yes. Hoping the real meat and taters is in book 1.

Highly enjoyable

I am a huge zombie fan. This was great to listen to while I played video games. The story had believable origins so nothing through you out of the story.

Don’t miss this!

Excellent series.

The best I’ve read so far.

Purchased the entire series through Audible. No regrets.

Listening to the entire series again for the second time.

They gotta make a movie about this somehow. Not sure how they’d do the peoples thoughts. But if they can figure it out, it’d be incredible.

holly crap what story

this was the first time I listened to or hurd of this series the only reason I chosen this was because of the narrator but holly shit this book was amazing this is how you start a series to get you to book one for this is just pre start of what I think will be awesome to listen to horror with a end of the world twist to in lingering to come around the corner and a military feel with some very intense realism to it I so recommend this

as always great story and narration...except

I love this author, this storyline, and this narrator! this may seem like nitpicking, but in this particular book RC gives the main character a heavy Australian accent. The problem is the guy is South African! again, it sounds like a minor detail but there's a lot of speaking for this guy and each time I listen to it it drove me crazy. lol.
