About this listen

Brita grew up a competitive athlete, full of happiness and excitement for life. There wasn’t much that would take her out of a game as she constantly pushed her body to the limits. When she was unable to compete due to unknown and undiagnosed illness, she entered a world that was unfamiliar, and began to sink into a darkness she could never have imagined.

At first, the doctors didn’t take her seriously, and she was told nothing was wrong with her. Knowing that God was guiding her to answers, she eventually found doctors that diagnosed her with celiac disease, Hashimoto’s, Lyme disease, and other health issues.

When her strong, athletic body could no longer do the things she wanted, and her mind was a constant battlefield of anxiety and depression, she spiraled into years of chronic physical and mental health issues. She felt broken beyond repair, and shattered to her very core.

As a young wife and mother of five beautiful children, Brita would not let herself give up, and neither would her family. They supported her to find the help she needed, and loved her through the worst times of her life.

Each step taken was hard, but little by little, she was guided to a new doctor or treatment that would help her body heal in unexpected ways. Coming from the depths of pain, she found gratitude in the simplest tasks each day as she began living again.

Getting Through Today chronicles Brita’s path of physical and mental healing, where she learned to redefine who she was, work with her mind to see the beauty in being broken, and find her way back to being the girl she loves and admires. Her story will inspire you to embrace the power of today.

Positivity around life’s hardest challenges

Well done; well done! The solution in the end of spirit healing can’t help me personally because I don’t believe God and that world mix for me personally but I throughly enjoyed this book and feel encouraged and hopeful that I too will find my solutions that work. I’m grateful that the understanding that resources can help but chronic illness is still labeled chronic for a reason that way I’m not unreasonable with my expectations to never feel pain.
