Publisher's summary

For one Lakota author, the words he writes have the power of life...and death.

The more he writes, the more real his creations become until they take on a life of their own.

Worse, the dead now are drawn to him. Until the unthinkable happens.... He is accused of killing the ghost of Ernest Hemingway. And all Hell literally breaks loose.

Now, can the ghosts of Mark Twain and Marlene Dietrich guide him safely though his own fictional world to find the true murderer before his own characters kill him?

Amazing voices

The narrator of this book was amazing! I have to admit however the story itself was a bit confusing. There was so much going on I kept getting lost. Parts where made more interesting and vibrant simply because of the fabulous job the narrator did on the voices themselves. That alone is worth getting the audio copy of this book for 😀 I received this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review. To sum it up narrator amazing story a bit confusing tho some great stuff in there to get you thinking. Old Hollywood movie and history ghosts hum , see a lot to think about 😜

Interesting Characters but I felt a little lost.

I think this would be more enjoyable for someone who has already read some of Mr. Yeomans’ other books. I had the feeling I was meant to be familiar with these characters already, to know something of their story and care about them, especially the main character. I felt like I was at an interesting party where everyone knew each other except me. If this author is new to you, too, I’d suggest starting with some of the other books first and trying this one once you’re familiar with this Lakota stuff. It was a little dark for my bedtime reading but the bizarre cast of characters was interesting. You never knew who would turn up next.

The narrator had several different accents to contend with and did a good job with them but that smacking thing Mark Twain kept doing does not pair well with ear buds. Perhaps Twain was that irritating in real life but he wouldn’t be directly in my ear. :) Good job otherwise, though.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Ghost of a chance

Did Ghost of a Chance inspire you to do anything?

It was a little dark for my bedtime listening but the bizarre personality of characters was interesting. You never knew who would turn up next. Interesting audiobook though.

Star studded Who Dunnit Who killed "Papa"?

If you could sum up Ghost of a Chance in three words, what would they be?

Celebrities. Supernatural. Mystery.

What other book might you compare Ghost of a Chance to and why?

Some of the historic fiction I have read are vaguely SIMILAR. Max Alan Collins' Matt Heller series have the celebrity mystery to be solved aspect. But "Ghost of a Chance" adds the supernatural interaction with dead celebrities and the Afterlife. It was unique in my reading experience.

Which character – as performed by Mark Kamish – was your favorite?

Marlene Dietrich. lol She kicks butt. And guides the protagonist through unfamiliar territory. Mark gives a good rendition of her voice!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed and grinned. Does grinning count for this question? And I was saddened over the treatment of the unicorn.

Any additional comments?

So, we have Hemingway, Dietrich, Sam Clemens, and walk on parts by other celebrities. And there's the Unicorn. And the Afterlife setting. And the mystery... And a good narrator.

Uneven story with good narration

Any additional comments?

This was very strange story, I found parts of the dialogue very interesting, but the overall storyline very uneven. Our protagonist is likable in his creative world of pop-culture and historical figures. My biggest gripe is how the hero is constantly saved by someone else. As I stated earlier, I felt the dialogue was really good at setting up why the characters were friends or not. The narrator is good with multiple voices and has a compelling style and really made this story better.

Boy book, perhaps.

I think perhaps this book would be enjoyed by men more than women. I never really understood why there was so much fighting or the reason for the actions of the characters. The narrator did a good job with the characters voices. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
