Publisher's summary

When your eyes land on a complete stranger on the train, and the world around you stops. When the stranger says hello, and your heart stops, too.

When the universe answers your prayers and he's there, next day, on the train. A man so powerful—brooding with darkness and secrets.

I knew there was going to be more. I wanted more.

When the stranger is reading one of your favorite novels, and you're reading one of his. When you're in such a flutter that you drop your treasured bookmark, and the stranger returns it next day. When you think the universe can't be any kinder, but it truly delivers the jackpot of all jackpots and two opposite worlds collide, as though it was meant to be.

Only it could never be so easy, could it?

Goodbye, stranger . . . Hello, Dr. Hall.

Contains mature themes.

Emotional-Erotic-thought provoking

My first listen by this author and what a surprise. This is not a typical romance, it's is sad throughout. The story is written in such a way you can feel the personality and emotions of the characters. It is also a story about living life to the fullest with positivity and caring for others. I thought about this story after it finished. The narrators were perfect for this story.

My goodness!

This was an emotional ride for sure. The story was fantastic, very “A Walk To Remember”. The male narrator was phenomenal. The female narrator was great for Logan’s mother with COPD, but not quite what a 20something girl fresh out of college should sound like. Not bad, just not what I expected/wanted.

Jade West does it again…

This book is a little different and tackled real life issues and grief.

Chloe (jitterbug) Sutton was a normal nurse trainee who meets Dr. Hall on the train and life goes from there…. Roller coaster and ups and downs… you have to go in blind…

What I loved about this book was the fact that the heroine was a string and a normal person… the author didn’t focus on how “beautiful” or how skinny she was… or how smart she was only to come off dumb 🙄
She didn’t make any claims and she was absolutely amazing and smart even though she didn’t see it… dedicated and skittish… Ashford McNub really embodied Chloe… her performance was perfect…

Jade West is a talent…

Is it worth a credit… you betcha! Just go in blind… happy listening…

Logan and Chloe

I loved it!!!

*****SPOILER ALERT*****

KU borrow and Audible purchase. Dual POV. Standalone. Age gap. Both narrators did an excellent job. Ashford MacNab's interpretation of Jackie's breathing as her health declined was brilliant. Content warning: @n@l; h breaks up with her long-time boyfriend; death of a patient in a palliative care ward; death of H's mom from COPD; death of H in the epilogue from cancer.

This story is marked as "contemporary women's fiction" and that both makes sense and makes me sad. Unless all readers of romance believe the fictional characters in books live forever, there must be space for characters to eventually succumb to their natural human condition. If a reader stopped after the last chapter it would be considered a romance, but because Jade West chose to tell us what happened in the FMC's life in the next 10 years it's not. None of us know how much time we have. The moral of this story is to enjoy and celebrate every moment as if it's our last.

Dr Logan Hall (41-47) is a palliative care physician who lives with his lovely but terminally ill mother. Chloe Sutton (22; aka the white rabbit/jitterbug) is just starting her nursing career and lives with her boyfriend of 8 years. Logan's and Chloe's paths cross on their way to work on a commuter train. They began to chat after Logan returned the treasured bookmark she dropped. They both want to say so much, but they keep the conversation focused on books. Chloe is a shining star at work and wants to share her excitement with her boyfriend. When she realizes they've grown apart, she breaks up with him and moves in with her parents. Her boss mentions an opportunity to work on the palliative care unit, and Chloe gets excited, but her boss cautions Chloe about the job and the physician she'll be working with. Chloe goes to check out what could be her new job and officially meets Logan. Logan seems so cold, so Chloe tells her boss the unit isn't for her, and her boss tells her it's not for everyone. Eventuality Logan apologizes for his behavior and Chloe joins his team. Their relationship is slow to develop, but there is a significant age gap and lifestyle difference, so it's understandable. When Logan's mom passes, Logan pushes Chloe away, leaving her devastated. The way they get back together is very satisfying. The epilogue is 10 years after they married, we find Chloe is now an obstetrician and Logan succumbed to his second fight with cancer. In my imagination, the now 32 year old Chloe does find love again but still cherishes her memories Logan and his mom after the final page. JP

Wow

I didn’t expect the amount of tears this book made me produce. It was a great book and narration. It just wasn’t what I was expecting from this author. 10/10 even though you BROKE MY HEART!!!
