Publisher's summary

At last, a single volume that gathers together all of the short stories featuring Agatha Christie's most famous creation, Hercule Poirot.

The dapper, mustache-twirling little Belgian with the egg-shaped head and curious mannerisms has solved some of the most puzzling crimes of the century - and, in his own humble opinion, is "probably the greatest detective in the world".

In this complete collection of more than 50 stories, ranging from short tales to novellas, Poirot faces violent murders, poisonings, kidnappings, and thefts - all solved with his characteristic panache. Only Agatha Christie could have devised cases worthy of Hercule Poirot's skill and "little gray cells".

Wow. Just Wow.

This was a tremendous deal. Some stories were better than others, but to have so much of Hercule Poirot made available in a single volume made the listening easy. The narrators were top notch. If the stories were dated and so what? For now I've had my fill and will go on to more current mystery formats. Thank you Audible for making this available to us.

Great collection!

So wonderful to have all the Hercule Poitou stories, all in one place. The chronological presentation is a great study.

Worth it

I’m only perhaps a third of the way through the collection. It has already been worth my time. However, the second narrator is not good. Perhaps he’s a good narrator, but not for Poirot. He’s a fascinating character that the first narrator really brings to life.

Good assortment of Poirot tales

I've read several of the full-length Poirot novels, but not many of the short stories - and since these stories made up most of the early episodes of the Poirot TV show, I decided to check them out.

It's a good assortment of stories. Some held my interest more than others. Jewel Robbery at the Grand Metropolitan and The Chocolate Box were fun, and The Labours of Hercules cycle was quite clever.

Of the narrators, I'd have to say Hugh Fraser did the best job - I've listened to him on quite a few other Poirot audiobooks, and he does an amazing job with accents and intonation. David Suchet, I think, comes in at second - though it's so strange hearing him speak in his own voice rather than Poirot's. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I didn't really care for which narrator did Murder in the Mews - it was kind of grating on the ears and staccato-y.

(Incidentally, another reviewer posted a list of the stories with their assigned narrators. I think that list might be a little inaccurate. For example, some of the stories that were listed under David Suchet or Nigel Hawthorne were definitely read by Hugh Fraser.)

A Good read, well read

They did a good job finding narrators for this and the voice actor did a wonder job. Stories were good.

A great collection of Poirot stories!

It was really great to experience the original versions of these stories, having seen the David Suchet series, and it's great to hear him reading a number of these as well!

Absolutely marvelous!

What a masterpiece! The narrations are exquisite, smooth, and read in a perfect tempo. A true joy. No shrillness, no unnecessary sound effects or yelling — all was exquisite, perfectly narrated, and excellently recorded. Bravo!
