Publisher's summary
1927 brings many changes to Nativity Settlement House in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. When Nurse Angie’s sister Celestina graduates and begins working as a registered nurse at Ellis Island Hospital, Angie is called upon to mentor her.
The nurses at Nativity House have organized a community garden in an abandoned lot owned by the settlement house. Just as the garden begins to flourish in late summer, an unusual discovery is made which surprises everyone.
The following year, flowers, herbs and vegetables are not the only things growing at Nativity House. Bonds of friendships are blooming, careers are blossoming and families are beginning to grow.
