Publisher's summary

Amanda Eyre Ward plumbs the depths of loss and captures the uplifting power of hope in this stirring novel. How to Be Lost is a devastating portrait of a family ravaged by grief—and by the very human longing to make things right again. Interesting Read

I liked the plot but the ending left me hanging. I think it needed another chapter to tie up loose ends.

Consistent

I’m finding that all the books by this author just ends without any closure. I don’t think I will read or listen to anymore of her books. They leave you empty, like why have I wanted all this time for nothing. It would be different if they were series but this is awful!!!

Left dangling at the end

I didn’t love this book. Caroline was annoying and the ending was a abrupt and left unfinished. Lots of important details of the story were left unexplained. Just didn’t think the story was finished.

That ending!

What the heck was that - you can’t end it there. A decent story but needed more at the end.

Not much of ending..

Lots of things are happening in this book and nothing is ever explained. Book abruptly ends. Narrator is fine though she does have a nasally type of voice.

Vocal fry

Good premise! Decent writing; not too much cliche. Narrator has so much vocal fry—gravelly and grating except when she does other character’s voices. So, listen to a sample before you commit, in case it also bothers you.

Kind of a spoiler alert.

I was really looking forward to some closure at the end. Instead, the story leaves the reader (listener) with an “and then what” kind of feeling. You know in your head what the outcome should be, but there seems that there could be a whole new chapter or two to close the saga.
That said, I very much enjoyed how the story played itself out up until it ended. I’ll have to use my imagination and concoct my own epilogue.

Left Hanging… Again

These books are frustrating! It takes forever to get to an ending that feels like running into a brick wall with your eyes closed. Either finish the story with a sequel, or count me out.
