Resumen del Editor

Elizabeth Bennet is living a lie.

She’s known since she was fifteen that she isn't truly a Bennet, but who is she? Are the people and places that appear in her dreams just a sign of her active imagination, or are they memories of her true family? Could the stories she'd told Jane when they were children not be stories at all?

Fitzwilliam Darcy is reliving a nightmare.

He hasn’t dreamed of “Ellie” Windham in years, but after meeting Elizabeth Bennet, he is reminded of the day little Ellie was kidnapped. And now he is left to wonder whether he is drawn to more than her fine eyes. When Darcy realizes that Elizabeth and Ellie might be one and the same, he is anxious to return her to the Windhams, and Elizabeth is no less eager to meet her family. But when the idyllic reunion she longed for goes awry, both Darcy and Elizabeth wonder whether it’s really possible to put a broken family back together again.

Can Darcy help Elizabeth find her place in her first family so she can one day join him in his?

Good story, great narration!

This is a very good story, long and involved-the way I love them! The narration was like a dream come true, so so good! I long for more!

Simply. The. Best.

This has long been a favorite book for me. It’s often a go-to when craving something wonderful but familiar in JAFF stories. Having it in audible form is that much better. Harry and Stevie bring it brilliantly to life and, even knowing this story as well as I do, I found myself breathless and unable to stop listening. Even if you already have this book in e-format or print I would highly advise you to get the audible as well. It’s so worth it! And if you haven’t already had the opportunity to read this story yet this is one for the ages and will stay with you long after you’ve finished it.

Be prepared to cry, laugh and enjoy this fabulous story

I read this book quite a while ago and it quickly became my favorite. This is an emotional story for all of the characters. And now with the amazingly wonderful and talented narrators Harry Frost and Stevie Zimmerman have amplified this story. It will absolutely be a re-listen just as the book had been a re-read. I am so thankful that Melanie Rachel took the time, not only to write this beautiful story but to have Harry shout! (You will understand quickly in the story). Take a chance and enjoy this book too.

Elizabeth has a long journey to become herself.

First, the duel narration was unique, I loved that.

This was a very Elizabeth centered story with Darcy playing a very important secondary role. It is a kidnapping and rediscovery tale with Elizabeth being raised in the Bennet family as a niece. But she remembers a lot about her real family and her life before the kidnapping and Mr Bennet’s rescue, yet when she talks about it they are just stories she made up. And no one really listens. Jane does but she’s a child too.

Once all the pieces of the puzzle come together for Darcy and he recognizes/remembers her, her life will completely turn around. Parts of this new life are wonderful but unfortunately other parts are really hard.

She has already accepted Darcy’s proposal before they discover who she is but her parents don’t want to let her go so soon after finding her so the wedding is put off until she reaches her majority. This is hard for both of them but gives us a lovely courtship time to read about-listen to.

Rachel has written some really great new characters and wonderfully sketched out in their development. I adored the brothers.

It had been so long since I had read this that I had forgotten so much about it, it was wonderful to finally listen to the story with the drama at the end capturing my feelings fully and bringing tears to my eyes and squeezing my heart. Such a good tale. And I know this will be a favorite re-listen.

Highly recommended.

Flawless dual Narration of a dramatic story

Wish I could give 10 stars for the performance there are 2 readers after all. Many times with multiple narrators you have to constantly adjust the volume when they change but not here. Harry Frost reads the story and performs the male voices and Stevie Zimmerman seamlessly takes over the women’s parts.
The story handles the abduction and its aftermath very well. Not trivializing the situation but not making it too depressing either. Also there were lighthearted moments as well as romantic ones (G-rated) sprinkled throughout.. There’s angst in the story but few between Darcy and Elizabeth. Darcy is steadfast and Elizabeth is very wise and understanding, unbelievably so in some situations. I enjoyed the new characters especially Gwenny. This was quite a change from the original and more serious than the variations I usually read but I became totally invested and couldn’t stop listening and finished it in a day and a half.

I Never Knew

I Never Knew…how much I would adore dual narration! Could voice actors Harry Frost and Stevie Zimmerman become as enduring a duo as big screen acting team Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan? Thumbs are definitely UP!

This is such a well-crafted story that I couldn’t help being totally enthralled from the beginning through the end. There is much to like about the writing, as noted in the abundance of 5-star reviews, but I have to say that following the story thread of the Red Shoes from the opening scene to Richard’s letter in the final scene is memorable.

Touches many emotions.

How wonderful it is to have this fabulous story by Melanie Rachel finally available on audio, and especially so with JAFF audiobook royalty—Stevie Zimmerman and Harry Frost—narrating it together. Truly outstanding performances in this now treasured audiobook. After being kidnapped as a little girl, Darcy figures out who Elizabeth really is while she is living as the supposed niece of Mr. Bennet, not his daughter. Mrs. Bennet’s treatment of Lizzy is nothing short of the wicked stepmother role. I really enjoyed this plot. It touched on many emotions, as the there are many moving moments within the book, one I consider a tearjerker. I loved Elizabeth’s true cousins, the Fitzwilliam brothers, Malcolm and Richard, along with Darcy, of course, who, along with her own brothers, witnessed the fateful day when Elizabeth was taken from her true family. None of them ever forgot and felt guilt for not being able to rescue her. The story focuses on how Elizabeth dealt with living in the Bennet household knowing she never truly belonged, and coming to accept living with her birth family after they are reunited, still unsure of her place. Throughout it all, Darcy is there supporting her. Highly recommend.

A performance that makes a great book better

This book is one of my favourites from this author. Ms Rachel writes an engrossing story that grows from the premises that Elizabeth is not a Bennet and was kidnapped as a child. Harry Frost and Stevie Zimmerman bring to life the impact of Elizabeth's loss and recovery on the families. The audio quality and editing were excellent. I loved their performances, and they combine to make this one of my favourite audiobooks.

Fantastic story, Amazing narration

The kidnapping and loss of a child affects every one in the first circle surrounding the victim. In fact they all become victims.
Elizabeth is not a Bennet and the repercussions are many and long reaching.

One of my favorite books, I was super excited to listen to this audiobook. The narrations were artistically outstanding.
Technically it was also very well done. High quality recording and a good balance between the duo voices.

Highly recommended and a re-listen time and time again.

Simply the Best

My favorite Melanie Rachel novel. My favorite "Elizabeth not a Bennet" trope novel. And... read by two of the best narrators of this genre.

This story has stayed with me since I first read it, which was upon release several years ago. I have read many "Elizabeth not a Bennet" and "Elizabeth Kidnapped as a Child" stories in the intervening years, but none of them touched me as deeply and profoundly as this one. The narrative is beautifully written and well paced as we follow the heartbreaking journey of a family dealing with the fallout of an abduction of a beloved member. The remorse, recriminations, grief, and subdued hope of being reunited feel realistic without being overwhelming- a masterful feat!

The love story of Darcy and Elizabeth paves the way for the restoration of this family. And since the majority of the drama in this tale originates from the abduction plot, we are treated to a wonderfully swoonworthy Darcy who stands beside Elizabeth as she deals with the enormous transition back to her birth family.

The dual narration of Stevie Zimmerman and Harry Frost complimented the story perfectly. Well done!
