Publisher's summary

If/When is a poetry collection that distills everyday moments in the city into the divine. As funny as they are moving and as magical as they are challenging, Diana’s poems stay with you. This audiobook comes with original musical accompaniment from Ryan Manchester, creating a rhythm where the poet's voice shines! At the center of this debut is an author that invites us to observe and honor ourselves with complete abandon. Listen in order, or on shuffle, this book comes alive as you listen.

Powerful

A collection of poetic moments of everyday thoughts or occurrences that are broken down into 39 different chapters with strumming music to highlight them.

The author, Diana Arnold, very poetically shares thoughts and advice of real-life instances of doubt, discovery, fears, and more. Her words are fluid, revealing constant movement. Her imagery is vivid and vibrant. There are many times when her words will stick with you long after you have ended her book. A couple of instances that stuck with me include – some imagery she uses such as an "old tugboat" and "need water myself" - from “Note to Self.” Those two images stuck with me for a long time given my thoughts and experiences which demonstrate that I am an “old tugboat” in a lot of what I think and my actions. Perhaps I need watering so I too can grow or cleanse myself of these old ways.

As the narrator, Diana Arnold has a definite cadence that is both captivating and mesmerizing. She spoke musically. She spoke clearly and with a level of energy and enthusiasm that was contagious. The downside for me was I felt the music was a tad bit much for my taste. With that being said, the music was an appropriate genre for the book.

I recommend this audiobook, although it is very short, it is a powerful one.
