Publisher's summary

It's the beginning of fall break in Atlanta, Georgia. The temperatures are still in the upper 80's and it's the last weekend for water parks to be open. My family decides to spend fall break at a water park called Margaritaville at Lake Lanier Islands. The intention was to have fun and just relax. I am not a thrill seeker but my wife and two girls are crazy for adrenaline. They convinced me to get on the waterslides at the park. I decided to be brave and ride this one particular unassuming waterslide. I've ridden the really tall waterslides at Atlantis in Nassau, Bahamas. Why? Because that's what dad's do for their little girls regardless of the fear factor. At the top of the slide at Lake Lanier a teenager behind me was terrified. She had never ridden a waterslide before of this magnitude. I calmed her nerves and said: "This ride will be so easy. You will have so much fun. No need to be afraid." Then the unthinkable happened to me. While sliding at an alarming rate, At the bottom, I felt my back lift off the slide. In an attempt to brace for impact, I held my nose. All of a sudden, I crashed into the left side of the slide and my right thumb punctured my left eye. I went blind for a little while with blood and swelling covering my entire left eye. I was rushed by ambulance to the nearest emergency room. The damage to my eye was very extensive. My career as a dentist and a provider for my family could be possibly over at the highlight of my life. How will I make it? What will happen to my practice? Is it over for me and dentistry? This book details 45 days of turbulence I had to endure and locate a sense of peace while managing this life changing injury. The purpose of this book is to give real life advice on how to handle the darts that are thrown at us in life without warning. So no matter if it's an eye injury, health challenge, an unexpected loss, a change in career, or financial challenge this journey will encourage the reader to continue to have faith and equip them during The Eye Of A Storm!
