A must for EVERYONE

Too amazing to put into words. A beautiful powerful story for everyone; women, men, non-muslim and muslim. It really makes you appreciate the lottery we have won just by being born in the USA and having Jesus as our God. The truth about Islam is scary. Those who want to "talk" to Iran, or any Muslim country really must read.

Heroic

What an inspirational woman Ayaan Hirsi Ali is. This is a story everyone should hear. She's brave, determined and steadfast in her beliefs and ongoing objective of helping women to not become victims of radical husbands. This is a novel I will recommend to everyone I know.

Eye Opening.

Very open and at times shocking look into the world of Islam. Ms. Ali is very open about her story and tells the story of her escape from Islam. But how that it is still trying to hold her back and destroy her.

Amazing

I can't even imagine what it is like growing up in a Muslim culture! I can honestly say that just reading about it is life-changing.

Both breadth and depth

Disturbing, amazing, and well-written, this book has a bit of a slow start. It appears that some well-meaning editor told the author to grab the reader's attention with a shocking start, which may actually work but seems in stark contrast to the author's ensuing long description of her childhood. Provides unable to put down "reading" about a culture across countries from inside. The intriguing story only picks up as it goes on. Overall, a great listen, but a little long.

Understanding the realities of different cultures

This book should be required reading by the U.S. Senate and Congress as well as by all international lawmakers involved in drafting and executing immigration laws for their respective country. Teaching women to understand and internalize the freedom of choice will be one of the most pressing issues of our time.

Fantastic

Ayana Hirsi Ali has written her story so beautifully. She clearly weaves her story with a strong call to improve the lives of Muslim women. She embodies everything a fearless feminist should be.

powerful story

I will start by saying I love that the author read the book, it always adds a layer to the understanding for me, and that has never been more true than in this book. Her true life story is many times disturbing, but always engaging. There is a lot of background which doesn't always matter at the moment, but ends up influencing her life later on. The author is courageous for putting her story out there for the world, and I hope she finds the peace and world-wide change she is looking for.

Incredibly powerful story

This is an essential read/listen for anyone who wants to get a thorough understanding of what it is like for women to grow up in Islamic societies in North Africa and the Middle East. It highlights problems within Western societies and what can be done about them.
