Story
In Prey, Ayaan Hirsi Ali presents startling statistics, criminal cases and personal testimony. Among these facts: In 2014, sexual violence in Western Europe surged following a period of stability. This violence isn’t a figment of alt-right propaganda, Hirsi Ali insists, even if neo-Nazis exaggerate it. It’s a real problem that Europe—and the world—cannot continue to ignore. She explains why so many young Muslim men who arrive in Europe engage in sexual harassment and violence, tracing the roots of sexual violence in the Muslim world.

What happened to Islamic reform? Why have al Qaeda and Boko Haram become the faces of contemporary Islam? Why has the Arab Spring devolved into a battle over sharia law? Continuing her personal journey from a deeply religious Islamic upbringing to a post at Harvard and American citizenship, the New York Times best-selling author of Infidel and Nomad crafts a powerful call for an Islamic reformation as the only way to end the current wave of global violence and repression of women.

One camp praises "the religion of peace", while the other claims all Muslims are terrorists. Canadian human rights activist Yasmine Mohammed believes both sides are dangerously wrong. In Unveiled: How Western Liberals Empower Radical Islam, Yasmine speaks her truth as a woman born in the Western world yet raised in a fundamentalist Islamic home. Despite being a first-generation Canadian, she never felt at home in the West.

In early 2019, after three years of careful planning, Rahaf Mohammed finally escaped her abusive family in Saudi Arabia—but made it only to Bangkok before being stripped of her passport. If forced to return home, she was sure she would be killed, like other rebel women in her country. As men pounded at the door of her barricaded hotel room, she opened a Twitter account. The teenager reached out to the world, and the world answered—she gained 45,000 followers in one day, and those followers helped her seek asylum in the West. Now Rahaf Mohammed tells her remarkable story in her own words.

Story
In The War on the West, Douglas Murray shows how many well-meaning people have been fooled by hypocritical and inconsistent anti-West rhetoric. After all, if we must discard the ideas of Kant, Hume, and Mill for their opinions on race, shouldn’t we discard Marx, whose work is peppered with racial slurs and anti-Semitism? Embers of racism remain to be stamped out in America, but what about the raging racist inferno in the Middle East and Asia?

For all the thousands of books that have been written about religion, few until this one have attempted to examine it scientifically: to ask why - and how - it has shaped so many lives so strongly. Is religion a product of blind evolutionary instinct or rational choice? Is it truly the best way to live a moral life? Ranging through biology, history, and psychology, Daniel C. Dennett charts religion’s evolution from “wild” folk belief to “domesticated” dogma.

In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Sultana tells of appalling oppressions, everyday occurrences that in any other culture would be seen as shocking human rights violations: 13-year-old girls forced to marry men five times their age; young women killed by drowning, stoning, or isolation in the "women's room". Princess is a testimony to a woman of indomitable spirit and courage.

Unbelievable story! What a woman!
Would you consider the audio edition of Infidel to be better than the print version?
Did not read the print, but enjoyed the audio. Read by the author so you get genuine reflection and tone as it was intended to have. I would have had trouble pronouncing many words, so this was excellent.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Author! Amazing!
What about Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s performance did you like?
Enjoyed the entire performance. Tone, cadence, as if she sat down to tell you the story herself.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Did not laugh or cry, but completely amazed me and opened my eyes to a world we know little about.
Any additional comments?

This is my second “read” - this time Ayaan herself read it to me. Her experiences and insights are so very timely and important. I almost titled this “a must read for any thinking person” - but it is for EVERY person. It will get any reader thinking. Her ideas are not without controversy - but thy are clear, direct, and respectful. Her ability to connect the experiences with actionable insights are remarkable.

This is now my favorite novel. Ayann's narrating adds to the authenticity of the book. She does such an amazing job at helping the reader understand the plight of her and the women in her world. I can't encourage you enough to buy this book. It's truly a treat to be given such a candid look into Ayaan's world.

Compelling Story
Would you listen to Infidel again? Why?
Yes. It was an intriguing look at Muslim culture. A "no holds barred" account of what it is like to be raised in an African Islamic family.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Infidel?
The author's account of the September 11th, 2001 events and their effect on her attitude was dramatic.
What about Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s performance did you like?
Her narration was excellent and straightforward. It is always good to hear a book read by the author. I feel that you get a more authentic take on what the author meant to say.
Any additional comments?
A disturbing but informative read. Should be looked at by anyone interested in the studying Islam. The world should know what these young girls suffer in the name of "religion".

Story of a true heroine
Ayaan ‘s story was eye-opening and heartbreaking. Her perspective and understanding of Islam it’s one that the diversity minded West needs to listen to closely.
The story starts off a little slow, but it is well worth the listen in the end and left me looking to find out where the author is today.
