Publisher's summary

One choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves - and herself - while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable - and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

Emma Galvin is an amazing Narrator!

I have decided that after listening to Divergent and then to Insurgent - I will listen to anything Emma Galvin reads. She is excellant. The book swayed for a little while, but because of the performance by Emma, I couldn't stop listening.

One great pity party!

First book was good and engaging. I was surprised since it seems it was targeted for mid-teen readers.

Insurgent seem to want to demonstrate that the characters are all spoiled suburban teens who are all competing for who has had it worse. At least 30% of the book is dialog between characters complaining about nobody understands them. They grew up in post apocalyptic Chicago.. I think they know how to cope with a little bit of hardship.

If petty high school drama is what you seek. Look no further! Since Tris was literally forced to kill her boyfriend, Christina's response is... "I think I can start to forgive you now." Forget about her parents being gunned down in front of her, Tris will bitch about this one incident for at least 5% of the book. No kidding.

Generally, the plot starts abruptly and seemingly unrelated to the first. Also, let's not forget the enormous plot hole regarding collecting Divergent people. The city is full of Divergents and instead of grabbing a few of them from your own headquarters, the pacifists or randomly off the street, let's have a shootout! I thought Erudite were suppose to be smart.. Hmm.

I could barely make it through this book. I only stuck with it hoping it would get better.. It didn't. I will save you the trouble, read the first 3 chapters and read the last 3 chapters. That will give you everything you need without the filler.
While I returned this book, I do intend to give the third one a try. I hope the author improved her story.

Lovely development of the story

What did you love best about Insurgent?

The Tris / Tobias elements were enjoyable in an otherwise tense story

Any additional comments?

This is a good development from the first book, a great expansion of the story. However, I was bitterly disappointed in Book 3 so it's tainted my perception of the whole series.

Good but not as good

Narration was great, overall enjoyment was great. But the story just did not hit the spot the same way the first book did.

Loved the ending! Mystery, intrigue, awesomeness!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It's got intrigue, romance, twists, turns, a good amount mystery.I also appreciated that it was Fast moving, sometimes if there's romance the book slows down too much, but not this one.
