Very well written

Without spoiling the exact nature of the intense feelings the main character experiences, I have to say the author did Justice to the real life experience. It was a unique and interesting story populated with characters who could plausibly have been actual people.

I found one small plot detail to be hard to believe, but this in no way diminished my enjoyment of the story.

Brilliant writing and narration.

I absolutely loved this book for the quality of its writing and the beautiful narration. It is not a fast paced, full-of-suspension and sex type of novel but it was a wonderful story of loss, survival and growth through life experiences.

Not exactly what I expected…

But very good! There is a death which I was not expecting based on the blurb, and I wasn’t totally sure where the story was going, but I really enjoyed losing myself in it.

Even better the 2nd time

Just finished listening to this for the second time. I think I loved it even more knowing where it was headed. I love McFarlane’s books, and this is one of my favorites! 

I will listen to this many times

This performance! This writing! This truth! These feelings! These characters! These words! After several DNFs in a low, I suppose to was rescued.

Surprised how much I loved it

As I began listening, I thought “Ugh, I know where this is going.” I was so wrong. It was much better and much more nuanced than first glance would indicate. I really enjoyed this book about 4 close friends who change so much by the end of the book. Highly recommend.

Don’t judge this book by the cover

This book is so much deeper then the cover would suggest, a wonderful, sad, hilarious, witty, story about friendship and falling in love. Although the overall plot was about the death of a friend, the characters humor kept you engaged and out of the sad dark place that the subject of death can take you. I laughed out loud multiple times while listening. The narrator does have a thick accent which took a bit to get used to, but overall a wonderful story!

This story was amazing. Definitely emotionally painful in many places but I appreciated the personal growth we saw in the main characters. This is worth purchasing if you don’t have a credit.

I couldn’t stop listening… wonderfully written and performed. The story make you feel so many feelings. Be prepared to listen in the shower, car, kitchen, everywhere.
