About this listen

After wiping out the drak nest, Eric finds himself now also in a trap. In order to avoid dying in a cave-in, he activates the manuscript he received for defeating the Lady of the Anomaly. A portal then whisks Eric away to the lookout point atop the mysterious Citadel of Chaos.

The entrance to the Citadel is guarded by the Gatekeeper, a huge troll encased head to toe in a suit of plate armor. Thanks to his Friend of the Trolls amulet, Eric manages to avoid fighting him and passes the Gatekeeper's first test and can enter the Citadel of Chaos to partake in its mysteries.

Eric isn't interested in its mysteries though and he tells the troll as much directly. He even goes so far as to say he would rather just go on his merry way and leave the Citadel. But the Gatekeeper informs Eric that he will not be able to leave quite so easily because now that he has activated the manuscript, he must undergo a test known as Unity with Chaos!

What if Eric is able to pass the test? Will Chaos grant him power?

A worthy new addition to the series

Eric finds his next portal realm that of fox-kin neck-deep in dark ones and about to be overrun. Initially, not wanting to delay his return to his realm to help his friends and continue to seek a way to defeat the dark Steel King, he eventually acceded to the pleas of one of the clan leaders to first assist them rid themselves of the dark ones. There is ample intrigue hindering his efforts and even a point where his careless assumption came very close to ending his quest and his agency.

Derek Shoales continues to provide a good performance.

Don’t read dashes as minuses

When reading the statistics the narrator read the dashes as minuses. I forget the actual text, but something like heat - 60 was read as heat minus 60. I believe the values were the minimum statistic required to used the item. Minor but it took me a while to catch on to what was meant. I kept trying to understand if the item or spell was cursed. doh!

Love the series

I have really enjoyed the series. While there were definitely times in the story I didn't care for I was still engaged. Narration was great as well. I will absolutely get the next book.

author.

ok I like this series, however my god author stop saying a brigade of ants, a squadron of ants, a troop of ants. I felt bitter saliva in my mouth, I spat out bitter saliva. As a reader the constant repetition of words and sentences is so obnoxious. Also please stop saying kiddo and also apparently everyone else in the book also uses the word kiddo, seriously, a primordial being says "it's just a kiddo"? is every character the same person? every single character talks like they are the same person. also the levels make no sense and actually nothing makes sense when it comes to how powerful people are, your saying you deal 100k damage but 100 damage kills level 30s but only with your sword? I mean remove the damage system and this makes sense. Also not every place he goes needs to be destroyed and have fighting constantly, literally every place he finds everyone is killing each other or enslaving each other. this world would not live for more than a week.

Gonna be sad when the series ends

Another great book.

Another strong book. The editing faults were abound in this series. The main character uses earth sayings only known in our time such as “deer in the headlights” snd “Dumpster” clearly no objects like these exist in this universe story line.
