Una niña de doce años condenada al olvido, o incluso a un destino más cruel, sale adelante y se convierte en una pintora famosa.
Las mitologías del barrio, la familia, la sexualidad femenina y el ascenso social a través de la práctica de las Bellas Artes aparecen puestas en escena y desmenuzadas por la voz inconfundible de la narradora, Yuna, una primera persona que contempla el mundo con una mirada salvaje, a la vez cándida y brutal, perspicaz y ensimismada, y lo narra con una prosa que pone en peligro todas las convenciones del lenguaje literario.
