Acerca de esta escucha
Business today is global - and success requires a new set of skills. But not to worry. Whether you're negotiating with vendors in Asia, exploring potential markets in Africa, or leading a diverse team at home, you don't have to master the nuances of every culture you encounter. With cultural intelligence, or CQ, you can lead effectively in any context.
Featuring fresh research, case studies, and statistics on the ROI of improving your CQ, this new edition of Leading with Cultural Intelligence details a powerful, four-step model for becoming more adept at managing across cultures: drive - boost your motivation for and confidence in interacting with other cultures; knowledge - understand the relevance of differences in religion, values, norms, and languages; strategy - plan ahead for unfamiliar cultural settings, but remain flexible if actual experience differs from expectations; and action - successfully adapt your behavior to each situation.
With Leading with Cultural Intelligence as your guide, you'll be able to thrive in any business environment - whether it's across the world or in your own backyard.

Americans precede anything negative with three nice comments; French, Dutch, Israelis, and Germans get straight to the point; Latin Americans and Asians are steeped in hierarchy; Scandinavians think the best boss is just one of the crowd. It's no surprise that when they try and talk to each other, chaos breaks out. In The Culture Map, INSEAD professor Erin Meyer is your guide through this subtle, sometimes treacherous terrain in which people from starkly different backgrounds are expected to work harmoniously together.

Our divides are destroying us: red versus blue, Black versus White, globalists versus nationalists, agnostics versus Christians. Drawing on seminal research on social identity and cultural intelligence, this book explains our impulse to divide people into “us” versus “them” and reveals how we can tackle tribalism, confront racism, and develop a common vision for the future. David Livermore outlines the four competencies of Cultural Intelligence—motivation, cognition, metacognition, and behavior—and shows how we can apply this foundation to a wide range of situations.

Few would disagree that inclusion is both the right thing to do and good for business. Then why are we so terrible at it? If we believe in the morality and the profitability of including people of diverse and underestimated backgrounds in the workplace, why don't we do it? Because, explains Ruchika Tulshyan in this eye-opening book, we don't realize that inclusion takes awareness, intention, and regular practice. Inclusion doesn't just happen; we have to work at it. Tulshyan presents inclusion best practices, showing how leaders and organizations can meaningfully promote inclusion.

Why is it so hard to make lasting changes in our companies, in our communities, and in our own lives? The primary obstacle is a conflict that's built into our brains, say Chip and Dan Heath, authors of the critically acclaimed best seller Made to Stick. Psychologists have discovered that our minds are ruled by two different systems - the rational mind and the emotional mind - that compete for control. The rational mind wants a great beach body; the emotional mind wants that Oreo cookie.

Managers want great teams, but most build them around decades-old ideas and practices made popular by companies that have lost their edge. Extreme Teams looks at the new generation of teams driving growth in today's most innovative firms. They do this by doing things differently: hiring the right person instead of the best person; focusing on one priority while leaving room to explore new ideas; creating an environment where people are comfortable dealing with the uncomfortable.

Humility, or holding power loosely for the sake of others, is sorely lacking in today's world. Without it, many people fail to develop their true leadership potential and miss out on genuine fulfillment in their lives and their relationships. Speaker and historian John Dickson shows how the virtue of humility was an important character trait for the "greats" of history and figures prominently in the findings of psychology and sociology.

We need a fundamental shift in our values—a pivot in how we think, act, work, and connect. Despite what we’ve been told, the most critical mainspring of social change isn’t coalition building or problem analysis. It’s healing: deep, whole, and systemic, inside and out. Here, Shawn Ginwright, PhD, breaks down the common myths of social movements—a set of deeply ingrained beliefs that actually hold us back from healing and achieving sustainable systemic change.

Great content for intl professionals
The content really helped me understand cultural intelligence and how I can apply it my professional role. A lot of examples that are given are from international experiences, so I would recommend it for people who work with international populations.

good 101, but not more
this is a nice introduction to the topic of cultural intelligence. however, if you are familiar with the topic you will be disappointed. The book is full of mundane statements and common knowledge. there is very little here that you don't already know. It all boils down to cultural intelligence is important, try to develop your cultural intelligence, to be more culturally intelligent interact more with other cultures and pay more attention.

Lacking personal awareness
The author is not somebody who is self-aware enough to be teaching anyone anything about being aware of other peoples cultures. The author wants what they want in this book is more about manipulation than about honoring culture.
