Publisher's summary

Imagine waking from a three-year coma in an abandoned hospital, on an Earth that has recently fused with a different dimension.

Last I remember I was saving my high school crush from the path of an oncoming truck. Now I'm a skin-and-bones weakling wearing nothing but my hospital gown. Oh yeah, the world is also full of monsters, and I'm the only human left.

It turns out a godlike System evacuated humanity but decided to leave the vegetable in the bed. From the moment my parents named me Lex Lurker, I was destined to be ignored. Everyone else has received a chance to prepare for what's to come in the Tutorial. I've only gotten a snarky talking cat for a companion.

I could crawl into a corner and wait to get eaten by a kobold, but after years of being asleep, I have a new appreciation for feeling alive. And for all the chaos, there are game-like rules and magical powers that could help me avoid becoming a meal and perhaps even thrive in this hellscape.

But first I'll have to find the tenacity to survive, the courage to fight, and the strength to face some dark truths about myself. Whispered voices call me the Hope of Humanity, but it turns out I might be the villain of this story.

Great first book!

I definitely enjoyed the concept of the MC being left behind and his weird life even before that. I am very intrigued to see where the plot is going. It was a fun little adventure and the narration was spot on! I loved the little puns and jokes thrown in throughout. My only complaint is that it seemed a little short and it basically ended right when things started getting going. The system was a pretty good mishmash of leveling and affinity/cultivation from other systems.

Overall, well worth the credit, and I will certainly be getting the next one.

Too slow

This is s decent book and I don't regret buying it, but it is a bit too slow for me. The entire story takes course over 1 day and so much happens. I will continue the series but hopefully things progresses faster along the time-line in the next. Also the whole stutter things gets really old really fast.

Fun concept system apocalypse

This is a pretty fun spin on the system apocalypse genera. the story does have some bouts of info-dumping but it seems like it's just doing a good job building up for future storyboarding.

Missed the Mark!!!

it' not terrible, that's the first thing to come to mind, the system is overly complicated and it's not explained well, the world feels confined and it's like the story is being held or forced in a single direction, I want to like the characters but it's hard to get a feel for their personalities, like the MC, is he a smart-ass or naive, really smart or really sheltered.

I'll wait for the next book in the series, hopefully it will have some of these problems brought to a better understanding.

Really Enjoyed

I was hesitant because of the reviews, but if you like dialogue heavy LitRPGs this is a good listen.

pedo alert

I read another review that said the author was a closet pedo and I brushed it off thinking that was a bit much to believe but after reading it just sets off my parental spiderman sense. it's like he is trying to justify and make ok what the mc is thinking and doing.even if he isn't a pedo this guy is obviously a screwed up individual. besides my suspicion that he is a pedo, the writing is terrible. the MC is a weakling, he is 19 but talks Like a child, hardly any progression, stutters constantly, constant monologuing, mc is a bleeding heart type with no drive to succeed. over all it's a terrible book.

Review Is For Book 1&2 After finishing both.

1st of all I am a very generous reviewer. My biggest pet peeve is that these books should have been one books. Both books features the same villain at the same location over a week at most..Felt like I was cheated out of a credit.

in terms of the book itself I felt as though this book was targeting a teenage audience. I don't think it's for adult and the guns and blood makes it not fit for small children.

The MC is an enigma to me, potential to be O but will be a while before we get there. if you like a more alpha male main character this isn't for you. This MC is for those who like the Nerd to hero kind of growth.
he shows progress but both books take place over like a week or so there that.

if I was going to get the next book it would have to be in a publishers pack or a buy one get one sale. the story doesn't progress enough to be 8 hrs.

Great book, some issues

Let me start by saying that this was really well written, the world building is fantastic, and I would buy it again without hesitation. That said, I have some personal dislikes about the book that I'll share.

Lex's internal monologs throught the book got a bit annoying with how often they occour. Also, the story moved a bit slower than I prefer. Lastly, Lex has very low confidence through the book. Towards the end, Lex was becoming more confident and I believe it will no longer be so annoying in future books.

entirely too much rambling.

They portray the MC as a introverted shut in but he does nothing but ramble and ramble and ramble. I had to skip half of the early chapters because he spends literal half hour chunks just spewing verbal goblygook over nothing.
