Marcel Pagnol assure au début des Secrets de Dieu que l'histoire qu'il transmet n'a pas pu être "déformée", qu'il garde les secrets des grands-mères qui l'ont racontée avant lui, qu'il permet au temps de passer, qu'il n'en arrête pas le cours, n'étant qu'un passeur, un porteur de message, le contraire d'un censeur. L' Agneau de la Noël, quant à lui, a servi de préface à Angèle dans l'édition des œuvres complètes de Marcel Pagnol publiées à partir de 1965 aux Editions de la Provence puis au Club de l'Honnête Homme. Cette préface est moins un commentaire du scénario qu'un récit du tournage de Regain."

J’ai été bien déçue par ses deux histoires qui n’ont pas la saveur méridionale ni le charme ni l’humour que j’apprécie tant chez Pagnol
