About this listen

This program is read by the author.

A simple shift in thinking can change everything you believe about your own happiness.

By the time we become adults, most of us have joined the religion of suffering, which preaches that unless circumstances are controlled, life will be a mess. We compare ourselves to others and speculate about an impossible-to-know future, holding out hope for an improved life through getting ahead, fulfilling passion, or finding true love. But the idea that happiness comes from putting effort toward altering one’s circumstances is harmful and backward. What if we instead learned to understand that circumstances can rarely be controlled, and that life is, and always will be, messy?

From that starting point, we could learn to use our minds to create happiness despite life’s ever-changing circumstances and events. Life’s Messy, Live Happy by Cy Wakeman is about dramatically changing the level of happiness you feel in your daily life, by learning to disconnect happiness from external forces, stop worrying about the future, and realize that most of your negative feelings are about things that never even happened.

Wakeman is a credible, relatable teacher - a business owner, mother, and community member who has lived her philosophy and achieved profound happiness and success in a crazy, messy life. Filled with concrete daily practices and true stories that are hilarious, painful, and poignant, this audiobook will change everything: your perspective, your focus, and your energy level for everyday life.

Must read- new insights & personal stories from Cy

I found every chapter of this book to have new information that built on Cy’s previous books in a masterful way. Cy is authentic and open with her vulnerabilities and challenges. I feel blessed to have her “company” in the struggle and her insight to be open to new information and multiple things being true. I am not even through this book and have already shared it with my network and family. This is exactly what I needed right now. Thank you!

Always thought provoking

I find a kinship with Cy as she expresses deep insight, vulnerability and reflection. I appreciate hearing her story and the recognition that the end is allusive as it’s the journey, not the end that matters.

Always relevant

Cy has a unique talent for releasing content right on time. She has her finger on the pulse of human behavior far better than most voices in the business and people space. From her guest spot on Gary Vaynerchuk’s program, she has introduced No Ego at just the right time for me. Reality Based Leadership hit on the heels of that when my professional picture was changing. Now Cy shows up with more grace and empathy, while proving a powerful leader, like we all need today’s evolved marketplace. Thank you!

Time to reflect and heal

The powerful and simple message that Cy brings to life in this relatable, heart wrenching book is for anyone ready to love when life is messy. Spoiler alert: Life is messy.

There are several moments that she brings areas that need light in order to heal. We all need to take the time to do the work so we can share our highest self with others. Cy’s personal ad private life is shared vulnerably to help others. There is no greater purpose in this life than that. 10/10 recommending for everyone.

The world needs LOVE.

A conversation with a dear friend

I will undoubtedly listen to this over and over again. In her voice, this felt like a deep, emotional journey through a conversation with a dear old friend. Bravo.
