Geetashree is one of the few authors who incorporates the local flavor and life references of both village life and a metropolis in her writings. This is not to say that she does not have her repertoire of dense lingo, traces of which can be seen in her writing as well. Litti-Choka and the anthology of 10 stories within it are a prime example of this.
Stories of far-flung villages and folks living in them reminds of the rich history of this place and sometimes of heart-wrenching stories of displacement. The listener will remember not only the premise, environ, and setting of her story but the myriad memorable characters as well. This is the new style of Gitashree’s writing, where loved ones get left behind, where everything is a myth and there is no reality.
Litti-Choka and other stories are like a harbinger of times to come while looking back at what has passed. The author has dusted up these gems and presented them to the listener with much care. The range of Gitashree’s writing is from a dense environment in a village clan to stories of loneliness in a metropolis.
