A partir de allí, entre las brumas del olvido, surge la imagen de esos padres, andaluces que se afincaron en Elche para trabajar en las fábricas de calzado; esa casa, la cocina, la mesa con el aceite servido en un plato y la sal en un montoncito, la madre que cocina a fuego lento; también el recuerdo de haber vivido entre ovejas, una escopeta de un solo cañón que perteneció al abuelo y su hambre, el hambre de los antepasados que permanece como una huella…
Imágenes en sepia se van desplegando ante nosotros, hasta llegar al niño Paco, cómo descubre su identidad y quién es hoy, cómo se sigue trasformando a través del arte y su voz y los presentes que da la vida, ya en vivos colores. Siempre con «la entereza de saberse parte de una historia ya escrita [...] con la determinación y tranquilidad que otorga reconocer que toda holladura será borrada por el tiempo, ese gran juez del olvido».
