About this listen

An innocent rant about my boss went viral. Now, all that's stopping me from getting caught is the blur over my face…and a $10K ransom I can’t afford.

Henry Sloane is the epitome of Manhattan. Born into a wealthy family, he’s only known success. So when an online video creates waves on social media and damages the integrity of his business, he’ll stop at nothing to find the person trying to bring down his empire. In his quest for the truth, he finds an unlikely adversary in his new employee, Hannah. But when Henry catches Hannah in a lie, he must consider that she might be like all the other women he’s ever dated. A liar.

Hannah O’Keefe is used to working hard for what she needs. Raw talent and perseverance may have helped her succeed at school, but they didn’t prepare her for the politics that come into play in the real world. When she lands a three-month contract at Evans, Roth, and Sloane, she must learn to fit in with high society, even if it means fabricating lies about her life outside of work. After a video goes viral that could cost Hannah her job, she’s offered an opportunity to make things right. It just means lying to the CEO and hoping he doesn’t find out the answers to all his questions are right in front of him. As Hannah and Henry grow closer, her web of lies starts to unravel. Hannah is faced with losing more than just her job, she might also lose Manhattan.

All books in the Naked in New York series are standalone and can be listened to in any order.

Great Book! A Must Listen!

Peyton James- New Author for me! PJ (OOO I like that) tackled some very important issues in a way that didn't seem forced or preachy. PJ's writing allowed her Heroine to be real. Snarky and confident, yet at the same time facing the world's conception of beautiful. This audiobook is low drama.

Things we can learn from LOSING MANHATTAN:

1. Even strong beautiful people can have body issues.
2. What men find sexy some women see as flaws.
3. The shame people feel is real even though it’s not warranted.
4. Always be yourself, lies only create bigger issues with trust.

Lynn Devereux - Narrator and VO Artist (New Narrator for me)- Great Performance! I was very impressed with the individual characters and the depth of emotion Lynn portrayed in each character. And Oh my, her M/F voices with the dirty talk!

Loved It!

I really loved this book! I loved the storyline and the characters. I loved the way both characters learned so much about themselves and each other along the way. I loved how there was serious conflict, but the angst didn't overtake the story.

The narration was also really well done! Once I started listening, I couldn't stop! This was my first by both the author and narrator, but I will definitely be checking out more from both!

This is ME!

I love that this book encourages women of all shapes and sizes!! Being a size 16 myself, I can truly relate to the plight of Hannah and finding stylish designer clothing. The story is well written, with the right amount of snark, humor, steam and suspense. The narrator did a great job with the characters, especially with ‘Davis’! Highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a ‘lighter’ romantic suspense...no one dies but just desserts are had by the perpetrator.

romance

I enjoyed this story but felt the choice of expletive was offensive (the use of Jesus or Jesus Christ)
Narration was good

Love a curvy girl story!

What a fun novel! I LOVE stories where the heroine isn’t a skinny teeny tiny girl. Hannah is a size 8, which is still slim, but curvy. She has spunk, spirit, and feistiness. Henry the hero is a great character too! Great story with fun twists and romance. I would recommend it for sure!

I didn’t care for this particular narrator, her male voice is slow and monotone, but it didn’t detract from the novel too much.

Sweet Romance!

This was my first Peyton James's book, and won't be my last. This is the first book in the Naked in New York series. Henry and Hannah's office romance is sweet, fun, and heartwarming. The story is filled with secrets, and a little suspense. Henry, a billionaire, is handsome. Hannah is lovely, and smart. The supporting characters are great. I liked Hannah's friends. Lynn Devereux did an excellent job with the narration. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Dating Brooklyn, the next book in the series.

A cute way to spend some time

This story is a nice, fun way to spend some time on a commute or, cleaning the house or, working in the garden. The story was interesting enough to keep you engaged, and the mystery blackmailer kept you guessing. The main character was very relatable in her frustration at finding high fashion to fit her non- straight up and down size zero figure, an issue 90% of all women have to some extent or another. The narrator was good and fitted the story but, not to my taste.

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧 A Captivating Delight!

I loved everything about this book, from Peyton James’ wonderful writing style to the story and characters she created to Lynn Devereux’s fabulous narration. The story is both original and interesting, it had me right from the start and captivated my attention straight to the end. The characters are realistic and easy to relate to. I adored Hannah O’Keefe, her two friends/roommates, Tessa and Violet, were pretty awesome too. Hannah is about to start a new job at Evans, Roth and Sloane, one of the largest corporations in North America. It is only a three month contract but she is hoping it will lead to a permanent job, she majored in graphic design and will be working on ads for their clothing line. She is passionate about her work, her first day in she makes an impression with the boss. She went into the wrong room and wound up sitting in on an executive meeting instead of her departments. A day earlier while shopping for clothes for her new job her friend videoed her complaining that the designers do not cater to all sizes, the problem is she was shopping in Sloane’s Store, whom she now works for. Luckily her face is blurred out hopefully no one will know but that video goes viral and causes an uproar with the people. Henry Sloane, a successful businessman and corporate leader is not happy about that his woman’s clothing line is getting such slammed in social media. But he gets some good ideas and insight from Hannah who accidentally sat in his executive meeting. He turns to her for her thoughts and opinions, likes what he hears and reassigns her to work to work on a new clothing line to appease all. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is well plotted and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, low angst, a bit of witty humor, a mysterious, blackmail twist, some heartfelt moments and a great romance. Peyton James, thank you for this fabulous and entertaining story.

Lynn Devereux is a talented narrator and voice artist. She brings the characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. She does a great job portraying the characters, humanizing them with their emotions and passion. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

What a Great story!!!

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook, Losing Manhattan Naked in New York Book One by Peyton James because it was such a great book about Hannah and Henry. Hannah was trying on clothes in an upscale boutique and the clothes really didn't fit well. She ranted about the fit of the clothes on her very curvy body and her friend ended up taping her rant and then posting it!!! That post went VIRAL!!! And her post made it to the eyes of Henry Sloane and he was not happy to say the least. He was determined to find out who the girl in the video was and there was someone that was blackmailing her as well. OH M Gee!! All of the chapters were in Hannah's POV. This story had a lot of drama, mystery and some steamy scenes. It had me on the edge of my seat wondering how everything was going to play out. The narrator, Lynn Devereux was great at all the parts in the story as well. I received an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for an honest opinion. I loved listening to it. I would recommend listening to it. It was such a great story!!!

Very entertaining

The story was a good one! Yes it's a millionaire falls for a regular girl... but there was an element of suspense that kept me guessing the whole time. And the conflict truly broke my heart. The narration was pretty good at making me feel the emotions and I was able to get into the story! This was a new to me author and I will absolutely be looking for more from her. 😁
